John Schmidt is invited to World 10-Ball CHampionship in JAX and wants to know if anyone wants to stake him.

He has been practicing everyday and ran over 300 balls recently and 150 balls everyday. In deadstroke!

John is willing to give backer 50% of gross winnings. He will keep 50% of gross winnings.
He needs $1000 for the event to cover expenses.

Titles:
Reigning US Open Champion
Sands Open Champion
Legends Straight Pool Champion
400 ball runner in 14.1
Current #8 ranking in UPA

PM me if you are interested.

Didn't he just open a poolhall in the Panhandle? It concerns me that he can't come up with a grand.

Sounds like another opportunity for "The Ten" to me......

Worked out well once...why not go another round for the JAX tourney??

Just an idea...and there were PLENTY of guys willing to split the 1000 ten ways, and have some fun knowing they had a "horse" in the race.

Why doesnt John just ask ? it has worked before.....

Ummm..yeah.What he said.

Why would we pm YOU about staking JOHN?Has he lost his account here?Lost his keyboard?Fingertips?
I don't mean to sound insulting if I do,but I'm honestly confused.

I missed "the ten" last time.I'm in slightly better shape this time around and may just give it a go....But I'll wait for John if I do.

Since John did not post this, I tend to think it is not legitimate.
After all, John posted for himself twice before and was successful. Why would he have someone post for him this time?

keyboard

Not sure why the message isn't coming from Pensacola but John doesn't type often or well. Those of us who have been on the net for years forget that there are still many who are not. I was on the net for years and a very poor two to four finger typist before landing a job requiring some typing skills. I now type at a screaming forty to fifty words a minute when I need to.

No thoughts at all on this offer but no reason to jump to the conclusion it is bogus. John has sold half of his winnings several times in the past and seems to enjoy the partnerships. At the price he sells there is little danger of being burned and a large upside. Probably the best deal in gambling. I just gambled over $200K on a back surgery and my share of that is still nipping at my heels or I definitely would be in for any or all of the $1000.

This may be the most ridiculous post originating a thread that I've ever read, bar none, on any kind of forum.

1. Why would anyone as for a thousand dollars. These days you can find that much in bottle returns. Especially a Pro player who is becoming a sort of celebrity from ESPN. Imagine Allison Fisher or Karen Corr asking for a thousand dollars ... ha ...

2. Oh wait, he didn't ask .... LMAO

3. If things were that bad, and there were no empty bottles laying around, couldn't one ask his friends privately and locally?

Now I'm not saying this particular case applies, but back in my day this kind of thing was a standard move hustlers would pull on groupies, and then dump on them and run with the loot. Wow, wouldn't it be nice to be able to do that with the modern day help of the interent and do it a few thousand fold!

I've been to the city .... I've seen the big grey elephant ...

Sounds like a very enterprising Internet billiard pyramid scheme. LMAO

I would wait to hear from John myself. He has contacted me every time and I have not heard from him lately. I am not saying this is bogus, just not sure. This is not how John operates.

FWIW, John doesn't run 150 every day, just ask him. lol. John doesn't need anybody to talk for him either. I figure that if he wants to put the offer out there again he'll do it the same way he has done it in the past.

If you read this, John, I can't cover all of your expenses, but I'll toss in a round of golf your way in J'ville if you have the time. Hopefully you'll be too busy playing pool and I'll have to go with Archer instead. lol

Before you guys started naysaying this, you should have PM'ed this poster and acted like you wanted to front the whole amount, in order to find out who he was.

Shoulda acted real trusting and gullible. That way, if he is running a scam, he might be stupid enough to give up his real name.

Sounds like a scam to me, but now, we'll never know. An interesting observation, though.. The only person who jumped right on board has just slightly more posts than the OP.

I might put in a portion if John posts and says he needs it, but I for one think this guy is trying to rip us off. It doesn't look good, since he hasn't responded in this thread trying to allay anyone's fears.

(Did he really think poolplayers are this gullible? Especially ones who use computers?????)

Russ

edit: PLUS, why am I doubting this is legit? First of all, John lives in Florida. JAX is in Florida. I am willing to bet someone in JAX will be putting John up for the tourney for free. And driving him back and forth to the tourney, if he wants. So that means he is in for the entry fee, which he probably already had a sponsor for. So what would the $1000.00 be needed for?

This is NO scam... imo
The original poster HAS the money to put up for John himself, but the $10,000,000 is tied up in a bank in Nicaragua. I have sent him $9,300 in order to release the funds and I get 40% for helping out.

No disrespect to John but...

I hate to say it but I thought this was lame last time even when John himself posted. I'm sure he's a great guy but what is the state of pool and his life if he has to come to the AZ site to raise a grand to enter a tournament:confused: Sorry but I just don't get it.

It's no different than pros who have sponsors or backers. I don't see anything wrong with it. It happens in other individual sports too, the pros have sponsors who pay their entry fees and expenses.
