Standing further back to aim a shot.

This is part of my PSR (stepping into the shot). I've done it for over 50 years...so it's nothing new. Johnnyt

Coach Lee Brett teaches this in his video and explains it rather well.

I find that when I am struggling with cut shots that if I stand back from the shot a few steps I tend to lock on to the correct line better. I find myself doing this when I play snooker also. Has anyone else ever done this. What dynamics are at play other than just something weird that seams to work for me?

This is one of the many things that Coach Lee Brett teaches in his video. It is simply a better visual perspective. I've seen Johnny Archer do this also; just better fundamentals than crowding yourself by being too close to the table and the spread of balls, including the cue ball.

Geeze, I didn't know so many people had purchased Coach Lee Brett's book and video before posting my answer. Anyway, he deserves lots of credit for bringing his own personal regimental style of fundamentals to America.

Now go buy his video. ;) (Coach Lee explains why we should be doing many things, not just that we should be doing them.)
