I am sitting here watching one of the ST:Enterprise seasons, and the Vulcan science officer tells the story of first contact between Vulcans and humans...

The Vulcans crash land on Earth while monitoring the launching of Sputnik I. They run out of food, and are forced to disguise themselves and go into town looking for food.

They end up in a bar, where one of the male crew members sees the humans gambling on a geometric game, called "pool". He says to his captain, "It is a simple game, it would not challenge a Vulcan child."

And then procedes to win enough for groceries! :D :D :D

I couldn't make this up if I tried! The episode is called "Carbon Creek". Figured the idea of aliens hustling us at pool would be amusing....:p

Later in the episode, one of the crew takes parts from their crashed ship to make a better antenna so he can watch "I love Lucy".

Hah hah.. Well, the girl looks like a tall Filipino/White mix...

And at the end of the episode she gives velcro to a local inventor in return for college money for one of her new human friends.. :D

That sound cool...upload it to youtube so we can all check it out, lol.

Why would I do that? It's a copyrighted work, and it would be illegal to upload it to a sharing service.

Do you listen to the Thursday night progradio show Lunatic Fringe?

Before he was a Captain, Jean Luc Picard almost lost his life over a futuristi pool-type game. The game was called DomJot or something like that. The young Picard I believe cheated with his friend to win, so the evil alien dude pierced his heart.

The female Vulcan on the series, T'Pol is pretty hot!!!

It's a tossup between her and the translator chickadee.. Since the translator has more personality and talks more, I'd have to go with T'Pol...:D :D :D

However, no one beats Seven of Nine from the Star Trek Voyager series (Kathryn Janeway wasn't too bad either) ...

God, I luv Spike TV as they show re-runs.

???

Have you SEEN these two from ST:Enterprise? I mean, 7 of 9 and Cappin Jainway WERE both hot in their own rights.... But good lord, man... The two on Enterprise are often shown changing uniforms behing translucent sheets, screens, ect.. Lower back shots with hip hugger pants...

The Voyager crew NEVER wore uniforms as hot as these ladies...

Sorry, but I must defend the honor of Picard. :p :D :p Picard's young friend (and maybe Picard) was playing the Naucissans (sp?) and losing every game. Picard and his friend later discover that the Naucissans were cheating. They confront the foul beasts and a fight quickly ensues. Picard is kicking butt until one gets him from behind with a blade.

is it just me or in DomJot it appears it's actually the arrow and not the indian? The cue looks like a cross between a cue stick and a pogo stick. :) Don't forget Paris plays pool on voyager in the holodeck.

I think you're spot on there! Wasn't Q (the entity, not the stick) involved somehow?

I love me some good old Trek!:D

I feel.....NERDY-ER.... just after reading this:D

Picard was the bald Captin, right?

Wasn't the guy from Quantum Leap a Captain for a while?

I like LOTR, Battlestar Galactica, and the Harry Potter series, and Trek is even too geeky for me

The fans were told the story in pieces over a few episodes as background teasers. Then in one episode (named Tapestry) Picard was injured and he had an out of body experience that Q sort of gave him. So yes, Q was in that episode going through the scenes with Picard taunting him. During this episode the fans were given a way to see the events that lead to Picard's injury and subsequent artificial heart. However, Picard always felt that in his youth, he was too impetuous and too much of a risk taker. So, the events in the out of body experience were slightly different than the real historical events because Picard wanted to do things differently and handle things differently.

Because what the fans saw and the real story was a little different, it is probably easy to be confused what really happened. Fred's description was closer to the altered out of body experience events than what really happened to Picard.

Well ok...since we are talking Trek stuff...(yes, I can be considered a geek when it comes to Star Trek), I have a story about Patrick Stewart.

Mr. Stewart was working on a movie somewhere a bit obscure in Europe. He was alone and decided to go out to a fine restaurant for dinner one evening. The location was obscure enough that he was not being recognized, and in fact he was seated in the restaurant and enjoying a meal without anyone coming up bothering him with autograph requests, etc. The implication as Stewart told this story was he greatly enjoyed not being recognized and bothered. It came time for the desert, and when the desert plate was brought to him, it was a desert mold that was shaped to look like the Enterprise. Someone, perhaps the waiter, recognized him and relayed it to the chefs. They shaped the mold to look like the Enterprise, but nobody ever mentioned it, asked him, or bothered him. He said it was the greatest single fan admiration he ever received because it was a gift for him rather than a request for the other way around.
