Thanks to the OP for bringing this up and to the other members who brought up the disparity in per month vs annual memberships.

I did not subscribe this year for two reasons. One. it is DAZN and there is no other choice. Two, I did not think it would be competitive and the highlights on YouTube were great!

Barry Hearn/Emily&Co. must be getting serious kickbacks from these tools. DAZN blows ...
It's not kickbacks, it's payment for content. Standard business and nothing shady or suspect about it.

The problem is with the way DAZN treats subscribers.

Unfortunately, Matchroom is very, very involved with DAZN -- look at the boxing content. I think they're going to be together for the foreseeable future unless DAZN goes under.

That's even worse. I'd be more comfortable thinking that some shady backroom deal was the reason. Bad enough knowing that the money gos to some Ukrainian billionaire and his ex-Mossad yes man.

I'm confused as to how they are suckering people in. It's in black and white on the screen as posted above. It defaults to the annual subscription month by month. If you don't take the time to confirm the selection you want before payment, it's on you. That being said, I do not like their 30 day advance notice for cancellation.
I did it a few years ago, so I cannot speak to what it looks like now, and in fact I could be inaccurately remembering details. What I recall is I thought I was only buying an event pass, but then noticed later I had a recurring charge/s. That part burned into my brain and has kept me clear of DAZN ever since.

I banned DAZN after last years mosconi cup when they charged me a second month for no reason and wouldn't refund. A lot of people had this issue with them. They really expected you to give a 30 day notice to cancel......F them and their shady business practices. They will never see another cent from me.

I assumed people would get charged two months if they canceled right away when they signed up for one month---because 30 days prior notice would be 1 second before you cancelled, hence another month's charge.

I subscribed on Dec 10 for $24.95 via the DAZN app on my iPhone, then made sure my new account worked on my TV, then a couple hours later canceled my subscription. The account is still active, but I expect it to go dark tomorrow.

Since Apple manages all payments and subscriptions done on their platform, I can trust there will be no shenanigans. Dazn has no way to trigger repeat payments by themselves. I just looked at all my active subscriptions on the phone, and DAZN isn’t on the list.

thats why you use a credit card for all that kind of stuff. as soon as you see a bogus charge you call them and they have to remove it at once and it goes to dispute, and of course they get no more money from you.

same as with paypal buying a cue stick. if you have an issue immediately cancel the sale on your credit card and let them figure it out.

i went to my bank to have them block a certain company(acne medicine scam) from getting anymore money charged to my account. said company would not remove any charges nor stop charging. bank solved my problem. never get started with DAZN.

It's not only DAZN...ESPN+ got me. I thought I signed up for one month to watch one event. Then a few months later, I noticed that I had been charged for a whole year. I emailed ESPN+, and I told them my situation, and I told them to note that I hadn't tuned into ESPN+ for two months, but they never responded. It was too late to reverse the charge. I guess the lesson is, if you make a payment for a service, immediately check the amount you were charged, and if you paid with something like Paypal, turn off any future payments to that vendor.

I signed up for DAZN on Nov. 30th and cancelled immediately. I paid $24,99 for one month at that time. They have not charged me again and the site says I'm no longer subscribed. I'll check my next statement to make sure. I had to jump through several hoops and submit my password again to cancel.

So for me the subscription worked as expected but the access did not. I happened to be in the UK for the event and I could not watch the replay from there. I could catch some of it when I got back. I did watch other events a little.

Have a VPN? If so, say your virtual location is in the U.S.

Don't want to seem unsympathetic, I do have insight to this, from the business' side.

To expect DAZN to disregard its policies in favor of an individual is unrealistic. Such acts are called policy exceptions and they rarely turn out well for all involved.

say DAZN honored the cancellation/ refund request in a case where the snafu is the subscriber's fault. It would then be discriminatory to require anyone else to.ride out their contractual agreement.

A business cannot operate when it pursues things with only negative value.

Looks like you weren't reading an chose the 12 month contract. You can dispute the charge, but this is going to look like it's going to happen monthly. probably easier to get a new credit card.

If you think DAZN makes it easy to understand the deals, you're wrong. In my opinion, they purposely make it difficult, thereby setting traps.

A reasonable solution would have been to proceed as if the customer had chosen the option he really wanted (but was tricked/confused into something else). That would have been maybe $40 total for his one week of viewing with a small add-on for a slightly delayed cancellation.

DAZN also makes cancellation of the month-to-month difficult and unclear.

The OP is not the only DAZN customer who has had problems like this.

Though I started with 'dont want to seem unsympathetic...", I see it did come across as such.

I've no exposure to the DAZN, other than mentions on Azb and it absolutely does look like it has set up its processes to maximize revenue, to a point of intentionally awkward and unclear user-hoops.

To me, one of those situations where the purchaser wants something now and the host is more than willing to make entry easy...and exit hard.

He who has the gold...it is a crappy way to view customers.

Same here, no issues at all just doing one month from my iPhone. Nice thing about Apple having so much control over the end user experience, protection in cases like this.

Stream was great for me too, other than the lack of a competitive match, felt my money was well spent.

I have had this account with DAZN for four years with no issues. Its called "Flexible Pass".
I realize I may have to pay 2 months in order to watch most tournements, but I feel it's worth it.
I have had no issues with the quality of the stream, easy to set the DAZN App up on your SmartTV.
I don't Cancel my account, just use the pause feature. I can pause or turn back on at any time.
