I'm thinking that these cues ARE overrated and thats why its for sale right away, and there was another one that had it for less than a few days here on az. Too much for a sp cue, mottey dont even get that much for a sp.
LOL

LOL is right... they are a bit hyped right now to say the least

I wouldn't say that they are overrated really. I think they are starting to get the recognition that they deserve. I always see very unique and interesting designs with his work. Hit and feel is always well recieved. It'll cool down after awile but I expect there to be a permanent increase in value with the extra flow in intrest.

Also Eric has bumped up the price and not taking orders any more.

I would call this cue "full splice" rather than sneaky pete as there is nothing sneaky about it. This is not a conversion cue .. it's a cue made from an oversized blank.

The butt is what it is, prolly a SCHMELKE, DIVENEY,or equivilent blank.

From the ones I've seen what makes them special is the quality of the shaftwood and taper. Could be called SUGARSHAFT.....they're that SWEET:)

It appears prices have spiked and their direction is predicated on many factors.

Yup!

If he sold shaft wood I think I would be able to sell 2,000 shaft blanks for him real fast and maybe 10 times that. I understand he mills his own wood from old growth trees on his families property! The shaftwood is as good as it gets! This cue is a very reasonable bargain.
Erick if you are listening my # is 850-474-0628!
Thanks
Nick :)

Nice cue. Love my sugartree even though I haven't played in about a month. Have no desire to play, and still resist the urge to sell my cues, and especially my sugartree. Hell I'm tempted to buy this one since they are usually hard to come by. Total of about four have been sold on this board I believe and its suddenly a flooded market, over priced market *laughing*. C'mon, his cues are popular because he uses some very very nice wood. Shafts are like shafts you saw thirty years ago. Not that snow white stuff you see from most cue makers these days, and in my opinion his shafts hit great.

nothing worng with white shafts

Didn't say there was...said, or was trying to say, in my opinion his shafts look and play like the shafts from long ago.

Maple is nice snow white now because of people wanting it that way for furniture, and from it being from younger trees in my opinion. Not as tight of growth rings, which may or may not matter in how a cue hits. I personally prefer darker shafts, might just be mental.

The snow white ones are usually vacuum kilned.
I have kiln dried baseball bat quality maple shaft dowels.
They are ugly but fkrs' have so many rings and are pingy.

Hey i knew a guy once that had a shaft that had 80 rings per in..............wow that shaft was loaded, but the guy couldn't make a ball, i don't care what game he played,so what was his problem, with 80 rings per in,he should have ran RACKS ...............HELL he should have been a WORLD CHAMPION.................WITH A SHAFT LIKE THAT

Thats like saying just because you have a race car you should win the indy 500.
Or own a basketball team, say dallas mavericks, and you should win the nba title. Skill does has more to do with it than any cue ever will, that doesn't mean a good cue isn't something to enjoy. Bluegrass cue's sell for about the same money, have the same reputation for good hit, yet you rarely if ever see someone slamming them. Not to mention there has been far more bluegrass cue's for sale, yet no one comments about it. Couple guys have a burr up their ass and want to hurt peoples sales because they don't personally like the cues.

Didnt Hurt My Sale But Thanks For Defending The Sugartree. Cue Sold Within 3 Hours Of The Initial Thread. When A Cue Is Hot And In Demand They Are Going To Sell. Plain And Simple. Playability And "the Hit" Isnt Found With All Cues. Every Sugartree I Have Come Across Play The Same. Consistency Is Also A Rarity.

Thanks
Ron
