Here is a pertinent quote from the TDF resource page:Dr Dave.... I dont know if this was asked previously, but how do you, or why dont you figure the side pocket into the equation?
here is a pertinent quote from the tdf resource page:
when the tdf system was developed, side pocket measurements were excluded to keep the system as simple as possible (requiring as few measurements as possible) while still capturing the most important characteristics of a table. On most tables, it is the corner pocket toughness (and not the side pocket toughness) that dominates overall table difficulty level.
For a comparison of the effects of side pocket and corner pocket difficulty effects, see the effective pocket size resource page.
FYI, I've added your table to the list.measured my table today. Its a Gold Crown V tournament edition.
Table Difficulty Factor 1.00
pocket mouth 11.4 cm (4.48 inch) (PSF 1.00)
side pocket mouth 12.5 cm (4.92 inch)
pocket throat 9.7 cm (3.82 inch)
mouth throat difference 1.7 cm (0.66 inch) (PAF 1.02) this makes for 141° pocket facing angle
pocket shelf depth 3.3 cm (1.30 inch) (PLF 0.98)
9 foot table...
Every number is "on the list" in the different ranges. 1/8" is in the <1/4" (less than 1/4") range.Hey Dr Dave
Thank you for this system. Its at least a frame of reference for pocket toughness if not overall table toughness.
I have a PAF that is not on the list, only 1/8".
I entered you numbers into the online tool and got:The pocket is 4" and 2" back is 3 7/8.
After finally figuring out how to do this system of measuring, here are the rest of the measurements. Can you help me finish the score?
TSF 9 ft Golden west 1.00
PSF Mouth 4" 1.20
PAF (4- 3 7/8) "1/8 ???
PSF 1 3/8 ???
Thanks. Have a blessed day.
