Did he get the boot over the weekend?
I recieved an email saying that I got a private message from him but when I went to view it, there was nothing there.

Thanks,
Dave

Unfortunately, yes he did. I asked him in public and in private to ease off and his response was to mass PM the users with more about this whole Viking Tour thing. Not sure who elected him the regional tour police, but he took his position a little too seriously. I got reports from people that had nothing to do with that thread that they received his PM and asked me what it was all about.

It is a shame, since I think he could have been a very good member of the forums. Had some good questions, just couldn't stop beating on people with them.

Teacherman pushed limitations and has now broken all past records for being booted.

I agree with Mike, he pushed and pushed and was very hurtful to people he didn't know. I personally don't understand why he wouldn't want to use his contributions in a better way than he did. As I have stated, I have heard so many nice things from people that personally knew him. So, it's interesting to see why he went on a self destruction mission.

Hi Mike,

Completely your call and I believe Teacherman would say the same thing. This is not going to be a popular opinion but I liked the guy. Granted he could have gone about things a little softer but there are certain posters here that I learn an awful lot from and he was one of them. That being said, I also respect Mike Janis for the strides he is making and I do wish they could have settled their dispute. Too bad because there was a lot of business knowledge in Teacherman along with brutal honesty you don't find too often.

I got 100 on Drivermaker within 20 days........ :D :D :p :p

I completely agree. He had some very valid arguments. He just couldn't help but run everyone the wrong way in order to try to make a point.

Hmm, kind of reminds of a certain fast one we had around here.

I didn't know Teacher, but I am from St. Louis, so I knew of him. Teacher has done a lot for pool in St. Louis; he is a very good player, and well respected by players in the St. Louis area. I read one of Teacher's responses on a thread where some guy was asking how to draw his ball, and even though I am fairly satisfied with my draw stroke, I can saw I learned something from Teacher. In this respect, it is a shame to lose him.

I agree with Bob here; it is unclear to me why Teacher became so angry with the Viking Tour or at least decided to make his anger so public. If the Viking Tour is so terrible, wouldn't market forces eventually cause it to go out of business? However, Teacher knows how to make money, and he was ardent it his view that this was a bad deal.

I liked him too Mike. He just couldn't resist getting into the pissing contests.

This is just a crock of shit, Mike. The ones who had a problem with Teacherman were the ones who didn't like his effective style (so they ignore him, as they can choose) or who refused to put aside their delicate emotions and inflated egos and actually integrate the facts. That some would continue to read AND RESPOND to his posts, and then run to you to save them from "having" to read his answers, just shows the facts in a brighter light....a REALLY bright light.

His contribution to that thread will be last a long time, I hope (over 8,000 views!). If not, then his time here was totally wasted and his ideas will fade away and the problems he expounded upon will remain. There's still some good thinkers here, such as Blackjack, and others who will keep going with the business dynamics, no matter what.

Sometimes honesty hurts. So what? Kill the messenger?...or integrate the facts and go on as a better person, bruised ego and all? What if the sensitive mystics here are actually the ones who are holding back pool's future?

Thank you, TM, for your wonderful contributions here...I won't forget, as my mind is better because of you. (Maybe Watchez will pass this on to TM?)

(btw, if he violated AZ's policy with his PM spamming, then I understand your problem WITH THAT ALONE. Though, you've let theives who violated your policies stay on the board, so you've already set an example of your tolerating the breaking of your rules.)

Teacherman had every chance in the world to stay on the site.

How many different times did he hammer the point home about his feelings on the Viking Tour? And in how many different threads? And how many times must I ask someone to back off on that sort of behavior before they finally get the point?

The mass PM was the final straw. He had to know it was going to happen when he pulled the trigger on the mass PM.

As surprising as this may be to some people, I don't like banning people from the site (well ok, maybe I enjoyed one person) but it is behavior like Teacherman's that got playpool.com's forums to where they were. I won't allow that to happen here.

Mike

It seems to me that everyone who has been banned has been warned to chill out and refused so sayonara and goodbye.

He seemed like an intelligent guy but, like others before him, he ended up becoming a nuisance.

This is Mikes' site, and it's the best site, so keep on doing your thing the way you see best AZhousepro.

I personally chose to put him on my ignore list. Some people can't bring themselves to do so... it's kind of like a train wreck... they "have" to look and they "have" to respond. Good points or not, I don't think he went about it the right way. He continued to hijack threads that were in no relation to his beef which is very annoying to all involved. I agree with Mike's decision simply because of the mass PM's and continued warnings.. There were plenty of people that had no desire to get in the mix or even read about it (as myself) and when people start getting continuous unwanted PM's that they can't block, then I think something needed to be done. I personally didn't get one of his PM's but I'm sure that I would've been highly annoyed as I chose to put him on my ignore list.

You can't please eveyone and in order to keep some semblance of order on his own forum, Mike will have to make decisions sometimes that not everyone is going to agree on. Bottom line is that it's Mike's board and he can do as he chooses.

Hey MIKE...I never thought about this...but how many brownie points will a thread like this get you that can be stockpiled and used against future indiscretions? I need to do SOMETHING to offset my demerits...btw, how many do I have now? ;) :p :D

You ever hear of the old saying that you put a coin in a jar every time you have sex (with your wife!) during the first year of marriage, take one out every time after the first year and your jar will never be empty? That's you, DM!! :p

pssst DM, I'm working on my reputation points here! I'm currently at 20 but I still haven't found out if that's good or bad. I figure if it's bad, then maybe I can make it good... :D
