The 7 ft. pool player

So I was watching this guy play in the poolhall I work at the other day and he was at least 7 ft. tall and I saw him do something I've never seen before. He shot from his knees for most shots and only stood up in a situation that a normal person would need a bridge. He was good too, real good. I use to always think shorter players were better because it makes it easier to line up shots given they are have to bend over less and can shoot with both hands, hence taking away most advantages a tall person would have. But with this guy he had the best of both worlds by shooting from his knees.

Anyway I figured I'd share this and see if anyone else has ever seen anything like that. I bet that guy can really pull some hustles like that too.

I have a friend who is almost 7 feet tall and he spreads his legs apart and bends at both knees and he looks very comfortable. At 7 feet if he was on his knees he wouldn't be able to reach most shots. You sure the guy wasnt like 8 feet?
 
I played a giant who was like way over 10 foot tall once. We were playing for golden eggs, and I was doing ok until 'The One' walks in trying to get in on the action. The giant started fee fi fo fumming about the smell of an englishman, getting cranky as a cut snake. So we took off down a giant bean stalk for a speedy escape.

I think he ate Drivermaker :o

Or did I dream that?

Tall guys ...

I grew up in Dodge City, Ks. and will never forget
when I was 14 and 15 and had just started playing,
there was this guy from New York or Jersey playing
on the basketball team at St. Marys of the Plains
college that was 7'1" tall. He also was a good pool
player. I played him a few times, and his waist was
higher than my chest at the time (I was short growing
up). He would bend over to shoot and his back would
be at about a 30 degree angle slanted down to the table.
He never ever needed a crutch though!!!.... lol

A friend of mine is 6'5 and now that he is older (48) his back hurts quite a bit after playing. One advantage is that he never uses a bridge.
 
All I know is Get_A_Grip needs to befriend this behemouth and go back to his favorite biker bar and say "HI" to all of his old buddies there with "Gigantus Maximus" in tow.

A friend of mine who is about 56 years old now? Is 7 foot 6 inches and he could play like its nobodys business. He can jump and masse like no one has ever seen before and never needs a bridge... He doesn't stand on his knees though.... and when he breaks and puts all his weight into it, the balls explode around the table and drop from pocket to pocket.
 
Was he playing with a regular cue or an extra long one? You've got to consider he'd need a much longer cue for the added wingspan.

nope, he was shooting with a house cue, on his knees and he couldn't have been more than a few inches over 7. I'm 6'3 and I bet he had about a foot on me. He held the cue just a little bit tilted too w/ his wrist. If I see him again I'm going to get a picture of him shooting so y'all can see it.

Yea it's pretty obvious, but I was about to say that you hardly ever see a TALL pool player that has trouble jumping the ball.
 
I got a friend who's about 6'7" and he was the worst pool player I've ever seen. And, he played golf even worse than pool! He weighs about 370 lbs. and he couldn't drive the ball more than 150 yards. He had a touch like an elephant on the pool table and he'd get so pissed off when he missed, which was quite often, lol. Nice guy though, just couldn't play a lick.

It can be hard to find a cue maker make a 65 inch cue but I seen a few.

He also has a son thats 17 around 6'9 and growing, that couldn't play pool for his life...
I've seen a little kid of 9 beat the crap out of his son!
 
I've played a couple of times with Rik Smits - a former 7'4" center for the Pacers. He's not very good - never uses a bridge, has the cue elevated for every shot, hits his head on the low-hanging Diamond lights. He is however very enthusiastic, friendly, and supports the local charities, so he is a winner in my book.
