;) What is the best production cue you ever owned? The best I have had is a Joss, not a Joss West.

Too close to call between my Viking and my Falcon. I alos own a Joss that I like a lot, but a bit less than the other two.

If it's best as far as money goes, design, or reputation, it's a Schon Ltd. If it's best as far as feel and liking it to shoot with, it would be the Schon...no, maybe the Joss...on second thought probably the Meucci's...no wait, the Helmstetter is really quite good...why do you have to ask such hard questions?

old mcdermott d series

I had a d-17 that was sweet, wish I still had it. Ended up trading it and a joss n-7 with walnut stain and the word joss lined up on the butt and shaft for both shafts, for a porper cue with pink ivory that I HATED. Lost about a thousand on that deal by the time it was all said and done. If I had kept the porper it would be worth about 3k (if I read the available sources for like cues correctly).

Oh well, shoot with a schon now that I like a lot. Wish I still had both of the scruggs sneaky's I've had in the last 6 years though.

Toss up between Helmstetter and Schon. Sounds like a no-brainer between the two but my old Helmstetter was a great cue.

Good Question

Early 90s MsDermott with any early 80's shaft. The cue is a 6 point sneaky pete looking thing with a red butt and cherry stained maple. I got 125 in it and it's paid for itself over the past 10 years.

Fav production cue

It would have to be my Joss, ebony 4 pointer into dark stained birdseye maple with a couple veneers. Solid,Solid hit. Plus it looks damn nice. :D

It's close between a cheap plain birdseye adams, a helmstetter carom, and a schuler. I kick myself for getting rid of the too heavy cheap wrap brass joint adams. WIsh I had the helmstetter carom. The schuler I still have and it is a good cue. Wouldn't miss it if it were gone tho. No more production cues for me. ;)

Best Production Cue

I would have to say a old Schon had one way back when and have never had another cue play that good. I'm playing with a Predator and a cue I put together right now and they get the job done but not like the old Schon's

1. McDermott D-1 - Grey stain with black/white irish linen. 2. McDermott D-4.
3. Schon. 4. Joss

Hands down 1st place - old Palmer Original.

2nd place, older Schon.

Shot with a Meucci model 333-4 for several years. Really shot good with it. Sent it back and had it refinished. Looked so good I retired it and put it in my collection.

I don't think it sounds like a no-brainer. Helmstetter cues don't get anywhere near the recognition that they should for looks, cost, feel, and playability. They really are a super cue!

I have to agree with you Drivermaker. Plain or fancy Helmsetter makes a nice cue for the money. My brother had a real fancy one a long time ago, it was a model that they put in the Bushka series later on. If I still liked steel joints and was shoping for a solid hitter for not much cash I'd take a look at Helmsetters for sure.

best production cue

I would say that my Helmstetter, Pechauer or Schon.. wish I had them all back.
