The billiards world needs to cater to women!

it's kind of childish to do it just to teach us a lesson. it'd be different if the women posted it because they wanted to see it, or to share it with the other women azr's. but the fact is they're posting it as some sort of childish revenge thing

And that is why we didn't support Hillary!!!!1

Bothered by avatars? TURN THEM OFF AND STOP BOTHERING ME ABOUT IT!

i think pool caters to women all the time the apa sponsors the womens pro tour. The women already have a better tour than the men.I get tired of seeing woman playing pool on espn everyday.I SO IN MY 2 CENTS GET OFF IT

Marissa -

You used to have the best avatar on the site with the picture of yourself. Why change?

Because she would not get all this attention for her chosen cause!!

Marissa, as a proclaimed member of a church, I am sure there are many more causes that would benefit far more from your unrelenting martyrdom!!

She is like the sally struthers of AZB!! Could you imagine her on tv at 3 in the morning pleading for your help while walking in front of all of these "offensive" avatars? There would be some nice inspirational music playing in the background. " Everyday, millions of internet forum users are subjected to these offensive avatars. ( none of them seem smart enough to turn them off). For the low cost of .88 a day, you can be a sponsor of somone's avatar. You will recieve a picture of your avatar in the mail, and know you are making a difference. We will remove the offending avatar (by force) and replace it with a pic of a cute puppy or another pic that I have taken and approved. Won't you please help today? This cannot be allowed to continue."

Do you take paypal? Keep an eye out for my donation!   Can I claim it on my taxes?

I am poolpro, and I approve this message

More and more women are playing pool. Here are just a few that post here.

Thus, the forums should cater to both genders and stop allowing the guys to use offensive avatars. Otherwise, we should be able to use the same kind images, male versions, of course.

What a surprise! Another thread by Marissa demanding changes to HER forum.
Has anyone explained that this forum is not a democracy, or that none of her threads are pool related?

The attention whore has done it again.....

Nice to see that she's decided she and Barbara are soul-mates....How does Barbara feel about this?

1) click "user cp"
2) click "options"
3) uncheck "show avatars"
4) problem solved. You get all the content with no offensive avatars.

Now please retire the avatar police, it's starting to get annoying.

I am annoyed by people who think turning them off is the solution

No it is not solve by telling people to turn off avatars. There are only a limited number of people who insist on posting offensive avatars. Why should we have to turn them all off? The majority are fine

I really dont care either way but I dont really think starting a thread and "whining" about it is the thing to do. If you have that big of a problem then you should be PMing the mods and explain to them how you feel about it. JMHO

CORRECT!!!! If the mods thought they were out of line they would have done something about it. SM starts thread after thread about Avatars-How is this pool related? MOVE IT TO NPR.
Here's a list of Avatars that offend me...
2 guys kissing
Cats(not Dunecats or cats with green helmets)
dogs
trucks
9 balls
8 balls
money
pool cues
cowboys(especially cocobolo ones)
ducks
donkeys
fish
chalk
bears
pool tables
cars
And anything else that isn't mine, my Avatar is perfect & should be the only one allowed(WOW!!! I THINK SM SLIPPED INTO MY HEAD FOR A MINUTE, SORRY)

Marissa doesn't care about avatars.

She has already gotten what she wanted: 57 replies in less than 48 hours.

(and now I'm one of them).

It's called "forum pollution"

Just out of curiosity, did you actually read what this thread was about, or did you just read the subject title and make a post?

"The World DOES NOT need to cater to SM"

No it is not solve by telling people to turn off avatars.
Yes. It really is. Just turn them off.

There are only a limited number of people who insist on posting offensive avatars. Why should we have to turn them all off? The majority are fine
We have different perspectives on the "problem" and the "majority."

1) The "majority" is the number of people on AZ that aren't offended by avatars.
2) The "problem" is a minority of people that are offended by only a few avatars, but then continue to saturate AZ with threads preaching to the "majority" that something should be done to accomodate/cater to them. [i.e., "we are more important than you, although we are fewer than you."]
3) Thus, having the minority turn off the avatars does indeed solve the "problem" -> it stops the minority from complaining about something that is not relevant to pool and something they are not really entitled to, nor deserve.

I would bet that these "minority" folks are the same people that complain about too much sex/violence on TV, but continually watch TV so they can see just how much sex/violence there is. IMO, this is terrible logic.

Just turn off the avatars or stop complaining.

Pretty simple really.
