What other states are using the concept of The List as seen in The Hustlers on TruTV?

I think it would be a great way to get to know many of the talented regional players.

In the last episode I watched these were the top 5:

1. Scott Simonetti
2. Jennifer Barretta
3. Gary O'Callaghan
4. Gregg McAndrews
5. Mike Dechaine

To call somebody Corrupt is not good without proof.
You should tell us who you are.
And I bet you can't beat Mr. Simonetti thats why you said that.

I love people who hide behind user names. Sheeesh

Why don't you try running a handicap tournament & see how you do :-)

No offense, but if you think those are the top 5 players in NYC, you are mistaken.

The concept of a "list" would be great if it were possible, but its not in the current pool climate. There would need to be some sort of organized competition to establish a ranking, then subsequent competitions to keep the "list" accurate.

There are already unofficial and mostly unwritten lists composed of names based on past history, but sometimes they meander into subjectivity more than reality.

Anyone can replace anyone

Hey,

I'm not saying that those should be the New York players. Anyone can be ranked in the top 5 or 10.

Having them start off in those spots would just be a way to get things rolling. I'm sure in a few weeks time the entire list would be filled with pros. At least in the NY area.

In the show one of the players had a strategy to be number 10 and planned to win a lot off of people fighting for the 10 spot. I suspect that would work not more than 2-3 times in nyc where the caliber of player at the 10 spot would be high.

There are states that have no pro players, but they would still have some strong players. They would have a top 5 too and most likely not compete against the strongest states.

Having the list would make it easier for road players to find a game because everyone would know everyone's true speed because a site can keep track of everything.

I like the list on the show because everyone plays even. NO HANDICAPS, for list matches.

@actionplayer: All that matters with the list is who won the set which is watched by a reputable league director in that state. And list matches could have rules like it must be streaming live. Then we can have list matches watched by everyone.

Only the guy from Maine is a true player the rest are good but mostly pretenders. But Jen Barretta seems to be pretty hot and if I am not mistaken a fellow eye tie excuse me Italian so she has that going for her.

None that Ive ever heard of. I think it could work as a ladder type system, but again, those are usually hard to operate on a room level, much less a state wide level.

There ALWAYS has been a list in every town. Had nothing to do with tourney players, ALWAYS gamblers. It would be known by all, never written down.

I guess the real list could just be a listing of top pros.

So an official list is used to rank players and then you just break that list up by state.

Players with multiple residences will have to pick a primary one. So Mike Dechaine would play for Boston. Charlie Williams would play for Florida.

Any states that don't have at least 5 ranked pros can either allow players to double up in matches or they can include other local talent.

Anyone want to see a match between Boston and Florida?

Geography

Oh Boy, Massachusetts is going to be pissed that Boston went out on its own.

What are their Fargo ratings?

In the Turning Stone thread I saw that JBarretta is rated, and I'm sure MDechaine is too.

How about the others?

Only if Marty gets to play.

I'm assuming a few of you have the experience to answer this question. I vaguely recall someone posting his opinion that for every pro who plays in major tournaments in this country, there are probably 3 guys who are just as good, but play only in regional tournaments

They'd have to take a week off from their jobs to play in the major tournament; and you you add up all the money they probably would make in all those tournaments, they'd make more money during those weeks staying on their day job. True?

It depends on which pros you are talking about. There aren't 3 Shane Van Boening level players in the US that are ready to come out of the woodwork given the financial incentive, but there might be 3 3rd tier pro or shortstop level players for every well known pro out there.

Boston is a city and Florida is a State
