The truth about sneaky petes

I was just wondering how many cuemakers or so called cuemakers out there actually build their sneaky petes from stock. Ive heard that a lot of them just cut up house cues and Ive heard a lot of makers buy the parts from other suppliers and build off of that. Is this true? I know some make them from scratch. Im interested in purchasing one in the future but I want to make sure that Im buying a real handmade pete not one that was put together or made from a house cue!!!!

And how much are you willing to pay for them sir? :D
Kinda hard for the maker to make money if he made his own blanks for sneakies when they sell around $200-275.
Actually, I'd love to find OLD house cues to cut up.

Well good sir Im willing to pay good money for a good cue!!!!! :D
And thats that, I rather pay more for a cue I know they made themselves rather than bought parts too and put together.

Long time no talk Joe! You need to empty your messages man!!!!!

Not worth building from scratch. No matter how you look at it, when you are done it is still a Sneaky Pete. Mean time it is as labor intensive as a cue worth twice as much. I doubt you would want to pay $500. + for Sneaky Pete?

Bludworth makes a good sneaky pete, its production but i dont think they're made from blanks

Thanks. I get a ton of PM's and PM's sent. :p
Hey, if you really want a really "sneaky" pete, send me a Budweiser cue or Pamela Anderson cue. We'll replace the pin, collar, shaft, handle and core the forearm with rock maple.
THAT's a sneaky pete! :D

Im not really looking for a true sneak pete to hustle just looking for a sneaky pete style cue. The reason why I started the thread is because of what someone told me about how sneaky petes were made.

Speaking of cues Joe, how are yours coming? Im still waiting for pics!!!!

According to the Blue Book, Huebler is one of the few who makes his own full splice sneaky petes from scratch.

Shawn, your mistaken, sir. My pete's are noty production. We build them here in my shop. They are spliced and turned. They are not house cues. I do not have a production shop. Never have and never will.
thank you
blud

Sorry for two post in a row...folks...

Shawn, they are made from blanks, coca-bolo, and maple blanks...
Maybe because I build batches of them at a time, you think they are production? I build 25 at a pop.....[sometimes 50], one set up with machinery, build 25 good shafts, apply 6 to 8 coats of finish, buff out compound, re-buff, and 6 weeks later, we have 25 going out the door. Don't sound like a production shop to me.

The amount of time it takes to build one of these cues, That I sell for $350.00, I could of built a cue that sells for $600.00, many times over.
However, I try my best to reach all customers. So, yes sir, I do take a loss building Pete's. Most full time cuemakers take the same loss.

Some don't take the loss, therefore, and are in it just for the cash. I build cues for the love of it.

Yes, I do my best to make money too.....

If all was a win win , everone would be building cues.

My Pete's, are built for the low end buyer. Make money on them, no. But they draw people to my other cues.

I still put out good Pete's, even if i do loose money on them.

What would be the rough cost of something like that?

That would be if I sent you the cue butt, and wanted a 5/16-14 joint installed.

I wouldn't need a shaft made.
