(Sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I searched and didn’t see any others on this, my search abilities may be as good as my pool game…)

Earl is spot on. Pool has always been behind the times.

If anything they should be partnering up with the marijuana industry. It’s an easy in with the younger crowd that is only mildly to not interested in pool.

There should be less stigmatization around marijuana than alcohol.

I've done it all, drugs/alcohol/weed/etc., if the doctor said - "you can only have one" it would absolutely be weed. It is by far the least destructive mind altering thing you can take.

Mario He tested positive for a banned substance a couple of years ago and got 3 months.
And as I recall, He's substance was performance enhancing, whereas Thorpe's is likely a detractor.

That said, when you play by a host's rules and violate them, don't expect for the rules to not apply.

And if the rumor is true that it was before the Vegas tournament, Billy didn't even do anything illegal.

I looked this up. He got 4 months for using a substance (hydrochlorothiazide) that can be used to help prevent the detection of something else. It's a diuretic that makes you piss a lot

No dog in the this fight. Just thought some might like some comparitive details

2021 and suspended for pot?

I quit smoking (regularly anyways) a couple of months ago but I used to worry when I would go across the border but after a while - fuck it, what are they going to do, arrest me? It's a stupid ticket and I'd just pay the fine.

The WPA has its standards.

It is a private entity, as such it may impose more strict standards than societal laws.

I believe Earl's overall complaint is centered around the fact they do nothing but require everything?

If you're my employer and forbid it and I do it then yeah, fire me, or send me to class - I'll suffer the consequences of my actions.

But if you're some group trying to set a bunch of rules and then not pay anyone, or do much (according to Earl's post) for the very people that you're supposedly supporting then yeah - screw 'em.

Like they say - if you don't like it - quit.

And as far as more strict standards - two years? Hell, that's almost as bad as White Boy Rick...(google it, it's a good watch :)).

The whole argument that “it’s their rules, oh well” doesn’t really hold weight these days.

If you’re gonna have stupid rules then expect there to be backlash.

We no longer leave in a society where people just accept stupid rules just because.

The problem is that there’s no real organization behind pool.

IE the NFL and NBA and really all pro sports have a players association that helps keep the leagues in check.

It’s why they no longer test for marijuana in the NFL or NBA.

Explains why a QB targets a corner back or safety as his primary receiver on occasion
