That is very nice to hear. Mr Scruggs sure has put the time & quality into his cue building. Congrats to Tim. Wish I could be there but will be in Erie,Pa for
VNEA states that weekend. Good Luck to all going to the SBE this year.

While I have no doubt he makes amazing cues, from my interactions with him, his customer service could be a whole lot better.

Maybe it was a bad day for him or something.

A really unnecessary post in this thread. You have received my first ever negative rep.

Absolute non-sense... Tim and Mike are one of the best guys to talk to!

One of the nicest person in the industry. Makes a great cue. Congratulations!

Bad Day?

Hi John,
I didn't want to post, but, I thought I'd better.

Yes, it might have been a bad day. Please reconsider your thoughts...

My first contact with Tim (Over the Telephone) was bad.
But, Tim later said he was sorry for "Getting all Huffy" (Tim's words).
Someone just before me wound him up and he was still in that emotional
state of mind.
Since then, he's never been "Huffy"...
Maybe a misunderstanding??

I think that this was a very practical and very sensible response showing both sides of the story. Well dont alton.

On the whole much to my extreme disappointment I have had no dealings with Tim as of yet. And that YET is very serious as I cant wait to commission him for a cue. Im thinking something wrapless as I know he makes a mean wrapless cue.

I cant wait to see what comes in the future for Tim.

CONGRATS!!!!!

Well that's good to know, maybe I will call him again sometime later or just stop by his shop because it isn't too far from me and I've always wanted to see a top notch shop.

Someone on this forum likes Tim and Mike well enough to give them two JB Cases as gifts.

I am sure that Tim will be really happy with his new case.

Here is my Tim Scruggs story.

When I moved to Germany in 89 everyone was playing with Meuccis and McDermotts. My friend Andi told me he was dreaming of a D-22 or some high D-series and when he told me what it was going to cost I almost choked. Stock McDermotts were selling for double retail in Germany. So I turned Andi onto to Tim Scruggs and other custom makers and he started buying.

Fast forward to 1994 and the Super Show. Andi had agreed to help us (Instroke) out with sales and he had secured an investor to make a big buy of Scruggs cues. So we went to Philly early and drove to Baltimore to visit Timmy. Out of 30 cues Tim had laid out for the show Andi bought about 20 of them.

So Tim opens his booth and 20 of 30 cues are marked sold. For the next three days we had cue makers coming over to the booth trying to sell us cues. Of course I wasn't the buyer, Andi was but somehow they thought it was Instroke. Well Instroke made some trades and so that year 20 Scruggs and a lot more cues ended up going back to Germany.

We sold ALL of our cases, close to 200, and I had to buy cases from someone else to get the cues home in.

Fast forward several months and Andi and I are displaying at a tournament in Germany and this guy walks up and starts talking about how he knows Tim personally and he can get any Scruggs in a matter of days and so on..... Andi and I know he is full of it so I looked at him and said, "well you sure know a lot about Tim Scruggs cues, do you know why they are so good?" The guy says "no, tell me". I said "it's because Tim has his own forest and he has been cultivating it for 20 years." The guy eats it up and Andi can't harldly contain his laughter.

Now here is the kicker.

Two weeks later we are at another tournament and another guy walks up to the booth and is admiring Andi's Scruggs. The guy says to us, "do you know why Scruggs cues are so good?" We said no tell us. He says, "it's because Tim Scruggs has his own forest".

Andi and I about fell off of our chairs laughing so hard.......

So NOW YOU KNOW why Tim's cues are so good.

That's pretty cool! I didn't realize Tim had been making cues for that long.

Suprised you didn't mention who's being inducted into the "Hall of Fame" at the same dinner.

Sorry Richard and Walker

Johnny you might be advized to wait till you know what you are talking about before critcizing one or two of the nicest people in the cue industry.
I am sure the rest of the pool industry would agree that Tim Scruggs is as nice a guy as you can get.

He also has made one of the finest cues ever for the last30 years or so,I own several and have 3 on order now.including the last box cue ever to be made according to Mike Cochran. So if you want a scruggs box cue,its too late so i urge you to order a scruggs before its too late,he is talking about retiring and you know what happens to value then

dean, you might be advised to realize that not everyone may have the same experience with the same person. I think I DO know what I'm talking about, since I am talking about MY experiences with him, although as noted, maybe it was not a good day for him. He lives literally down the street from me and originally wanted to visit his shop and all that, but was turned off by how he responded to me. I guess it's my loss?
