I must say something on behalf of myself in response to the post"Danny the Loser." What the angry lawyer lady wife said is incorrect. The problem I had was not so much with the upa as it was Brady and Frank.Of course Brady owes me $ and Fraky's problem was he his bossy attitude about this membership fee, the negative posting lawyer lady said in her slanderase post is that i would not hve to pay my yearly upa due for 2005 at the Players Championship (Bicycle Club tournament 2005.) I beg to differ and thats an understatement, I got the impression from Frank Alvarez (UPA REP) that I was technically not a member of the UPA and demanded subtly that I pay them $100.00 for my yearly fee. This did upset me a great deal, how could he say that to me I wondered and not expext me to be outraged, this situation could have been handled in a much smoother fashion and he did not have to be so bossy about it. If I were in Franks position I would have held a private meeting either with the 4 players that were owed $ or maybe a board meeting to suggest a feasable way to resolve this issue of the players being owed $ from one of their own tournaments( UPA'S 2002 Mid Atlantic 9-ball Championship), which is not to be confused with the 09-11-01 US Open conflict involving Mika Immonen and Berry Behrman that was a unusual and tragic situation. Once all the board members were there I would have brought light to the fact that these four players who belonged to the UPA werestill unpaid and maybe not to pressure these players for their membership fee's cause of what was owed and not hastle them while they were TRYING to compete in these remaining UPA events.
As Frank was pressuring me Tony Robles (upa bored member) noticed I was getting perturbed and intervened but to my surprise he also wanted to know when I would be able to pay the infamous $100.00 dollar fee for yearly membership. My reply to that was and allways will be the same I pay yall when I get paid. You told one story right Miss lawyer spouse, the upa has been working in the court system to help get the players paid but to no avail only a lousy $150 has surfaced in over three and a half long years.Maybe there was some pressure from the other players as some are board members(none of which are owed $ from UPA sanctioned tournaments to my knowledge. At the time I could not afford to pay the $100.00 dollar fee and felt like a poor Missouri boy struggling as normal to make it from tournament to " " and even if I could I would not have paid with them owing me money. All of the players who are owed money have sponsors or backers but that does not change the fact that were owed. I understand that Frank has only good things to say about me and would like to see me back out there on his tour. I think Frank feels that the some players do not respect him possibly cause part of his job is to enforce the dress code and lay down the LAWS of the upa. I agree the players should look presentable or not be allowed to particapate in the events, Franky did let my upa dues slide for a while but the pressure did indeed get stronger, well I paid my dues over and over for not getting paid for my strong finish at one of their tournaments which was held over 3 and a half years ago. To the lawyer and his wife that may or may not be associated with the upa, you may look this up in a book for lawyers if you like but common sense tells me that the upa is partly responsable for their players not receiving their prize $.
I should add that I won a upa event over three years ago and never received a trophy for my win they kept saying that I would get it but I never did, it was the original Players Championship held in Del Ray Beach, Florida.
It was in fact my first Professional victory with most all of the great players in the world present. I never received a trophy and that would have been nice to have some day. I have two major titles (Derby City Bank Pool Champion,) and my 9- ball victory at the upa players championship, and never received a trophy for either. I guess thats just pool on the men's tour,I do think I will not compete in anymore redundant upa9-ball tournaments.
This matter has made me a little bitter but I got a call from the upa a week ago and there going to throw me a bone and come up off of $250.00 of the $1850.00 they owe even though I'm not a upa member any more, isn't that special? In other words even though were not friends they will still pay me what they owe. I'm not a loser or a quiter and there are other tours besides the upa
