Very nice!! I love the classic stylings. Did you design it? It looks like a mix of Bushka and Szamboti in the style.

I like it alot!

Tom and I developed the pattern from a few cues. But when Skip first showed me his notched ivory diamonds, I had to use them. I added the rings in the butt and they really do the cue nicely. If you go to the susie cue website you will see Tom has a few of the black, red, black, white veneer cues and he wanted a fancy Skip for a while so this fits his collection nicely.
The one good thing is this cue won't be static, Tom shoots with most of his cues.

High res..
forearm

butt 1

butt 2

Well Tom got the cue this AM and even the Fed Ex guy liked it. I talked to him for about an hour and he just went on and on about the fit / finish / hit of the cue. He put it in the top 2 or 3 of his collection in playability, and its a tie for number one in appearance. He couldn't get over the way the cue was done. Understand Tom has owned 2 Skips, one early one, one Bushka style and he said by far this cue takes the cake.

Toms collection ... well some of it...

If you don't believe me you can e-mail him...

Those are some really nice cues! I can't wait to get my new Skip. It will be the realization of a design I put to paper a long time ago! Really looking forward to it!

HERE IS ANOTHER ONE OF SKIPS WORKS http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7155340376

I've seen a lot of Balabushka copies (never one like this) a little too much for me (especially the clusters in the butt). I like and bid on the one on ebay, additionally (a little simplier more classic design) I went directly to Skip for a really fancy copy, he told me 1800 (ivory joint, etc). I think there will be a challenge selling this one for the acquiring price. Hopefully you didn't have to go through a broker, maybe that drove the price up.

My issue with Weston is he won't do a custom one of one (I have asked him), I've had Paul Mottey make them for me (Paul makes the best playing cues in my opinion), Weston said he won't do it because he wants to sell others once you/we design.

Westons cues play nice, I think there are a few dealers pushing him now.

Wrong Skip.

Jim

Perhaps I am wrong but I was told by Skip that all of his cues are one of a kind. In a conversation we had he stated that he has never made the exact cue twice. Maybe Joe can shed some light on this..

1- He most certainly will do a one of one. If you ask him not to replicate a design, he will not.

There were two dealers when he was full time, now there is one. He has cut production way back from 1-2 years ago. This year he might make 25-35 cues.

Thanks for all the input, in addition to the playability of a cue (a lot of them are great, it's the archer not the arrow anyway) the real test of great cue/cuemaker is it resale value a few years have it is made.

fromtheb.

PS tried to find the email when he said he wouldn't do a 1 of 1 but cannot locate it. Anyway, its great that he has changed his position on that.

Dan,
I know Skip has made "similar" cues, but even those have small changes between the two. Rings may vary, veneers reversed, those sort of things. But people should realize even the masters made exact copies. I have seen twin Boti's, Bushka's, heck even Gina from the begining has had a line of cues. So its not uncommon. When I designed my heart cue I asked for never seeing a duplicate, but I allowed him to use the inlays I designed, so its no big deal.

No, I believe the generalization was recutting was time consuming. Skip does not recut.

Hey BTW don't slam other methods to promote your own. Yeah thats right, I know who you are. You wanna wrestle, we will do it letting everyone know who the combatants are.

Joe (--doesn't need to hide, also keeps his word when he shakes hands on a deal :D
