Thinking about hosting a tournament, have room for 12 tables, want to host between 90 and 100..... 8 ball, double elimination, race to 2 on both sides, Masters have to win 3. Want to start at 11:00am and want to do it in 1 day….. Can it be done easily?

Play in a ton of tourney’s of 32 with 4 tables that last 5 to 6 hours so it seems like it would work.

Are they Bar tables or big tables? For Bar tables I would allow about 7 minutes per game. (average over the whole tournament). You have about 189 matches in a 128 player bracket, so 189 * 20 minutes per match (minimum) = 3780/ 12 tables or about 5 hours. Take also into account, time between matches (calling out matches, getting players to their respective tables, etc.). Allow 10 minutes for that time, so 30 minutes total per match, start to start. This brings the total time up to about 7.5 hours, plus pad it 2 hours for delays, etc. (would their be a calcutta?)

If you start a 11 am and close at 2 am the next morning, I would say yes, you can get it done in 1 day.

Double Elimination tournaments are 2 times field minus 1.

128 + 128 -1 = 255 matches

True double could increase it to 256.

YES it can be done. However the RACE to how many games is the most IMPORTANT FACTOR. If you have that many players the races you have should not be a problem at all.

Also note that scheduling match times will be impossible and absolutely should not be done. As soon as a table is finished you should have a match up there ASAP.

That's between 180 and 200 matches overall. Potentially three games in many matches and four in some. Eight Ball can easily take ten minutes for any one game, so figure about thirty minutes per round. I'd say if you play "roll on, roll off" style of play it could be done, but it will run late. I'm guessing about Midnight with 80 players and after 2 AM with 100.
