tournament ruling

In a local double elimination tourney, a friend of mine went undefeated and was getting close to winning the winners bracket. The guy that my friend plays is notorius for riding the nine, slopping balls in etc. I'll call him Greg. My friend beats Greg pretty soundly. As it turns out the tourney director called the wrong matchup. My friend had to play a different guy Joe and ending up beating him. The next match was supposed to be my friend and Greg but they had already played in the game that was not supposed to happen. Greg said that they needed to play again and the first game didn't count. Of course Greg won, lost his next (second) match but won the tourney. Should they have played again or should the first match have counted? My friend went from being undefeated in the finals to ending out of the money.

Don't know

Well truthfully since they weren't supposed to play, I would think that match wouldn't have counted at all. Since they said the same thing, and they played again I don't think there is much you can do about it anyway.

It doesn't matter that Greg rides the nine or slops balls in. That is just the name of the game. We all have played people like that. Besides it's like Paul Newman said "The balls roll funny for everyone, Kid!"

That being said I think the person running the tournament did the right thing, and said that the first game didn't count, cause they weren't supposed to play. (Chaulk it up to a practice match.)

I know that isn't what you want to hear, but I think they did the right thing.

Are your kidding me?

I played "Elvis" last week and thus never have to play him again...I get a automatic pass. You got to beat the guy that's infront of you this time.
