A Matchroom press release says that the US Open will be in Atlantic City at Harrah's for the next three years. This year there will be an amateur tournament run by Diamond on 7-foot tables. The dates for 2023 are already set: Sept. 25-30.

Vegas is slowly pricing itself out, especially when you already have to travel there twice a year for world 10 ball and Mosconi.

AC is cheap, proximate to a number of major international airports, much shorter flights from Europe, and close to huge population centers.

The biggest losers are the Asian players but they have a super long trip anyway.

Making the players stay at Harrah's sucks. No chance I'd ever stay in that dope infested dump again

Other than that, there's fun places to go

Lol amateur event on 7 foot tables in this area? There's plenty of top level B+-A+ players alone that would fill up a 64 player bracket easily in this side of the country if played on 9 footers.

I might be wrong about Diamond's intent, but I'd guess that they are trying to introduce Diamond 7-foot tables to players who haven't seen them before. Sales promotion. And I suspect that Diamond is hoping for 400 players and not 64.

Too bad the folks that have been introduced to them, and would consider buying one, have a multi month wait to get one.....
