What are YOU thankful for?

Rude Dog

<---Dumb and Dumber
The holiday season is here, once again, and this year I'm going to list the 3 things I'm most thankful for in life.

1. My family and friends
2. Health
3. Freedom

My family has had quite a few losses the past 3 years, including both of my parents, whom I was very close to. We also lost my aunt, 2 uncles, a nephew, and 2 cousins. I'm still thankful for the time I had with my parents though and those memories can never be taken away. My brothers and sisters are scattered all over the U.S., so we rarely see one another. But I speak to my oldest sister, a lot, and I see her occasionally when we have the chance. We may spend Christmas together this year, which should be a treat. I have very few close friends to speak of but the one's I do have are very special to me. I don't see them as often as I would like because they still live in California but we do talk on the phone once or twice a month.
My health has been worse than what it is right now, but I'm far from being healthy. My leg has seen better days but I'm able to cope with the pain now and I do what I can to limit it. If I could lose about 60 lbs., I'm sure that would help a lot, but I sure like to eat, lol. Other than my leg and extra pounds, my health is okay and I'm thankful for that.
My freedom, now that's something I would never wish on anyone to ever lose. I spent 6 holiday seasons in prison and that's by far, the loneliest feeling in the world. Contact with family is scarce during that time because of the lack of available phones to use, and visiting days weren't for me. One year my family came to see me for Christmas, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews, but when they walked out the door to go home to their world, it felt like the day I was arrested all over again. So, I spoke to each and every one of them and asked them to not visit me anymore because I couldn't go through that again.
So, the reason for this thread is obvious, if you feel like sharing with the rest of us what you're thankful for in your life, please feel free to do so.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here in the forum. Peace, John.

Yeah John My freedom, that's for sure.

I am thankful for so much, and as the same as you my health could be better. The doctor is scheduling surgery for after The Windy City Open. They are removing 3 disc's in my neck and replacing it with a cage.. I'm not too excited about that but, it has to be .. Then more surgery after that on the lower back UGH!

I will be very thankful to make it to VF this coming year. I missed it so much last yr because of the accident.

So, with all that said. I am thankful for my family, very loving husband, good friends, (many of them) and as I have said, each day on this earth.

Definitly the family and friends. I have 8 brothers and 8 sisters and am near the botom. I have lost 3 sisters and one brother along with both parents. Theres never enough time to spend with them.
I have pretty good health as far as I know.
One of the most important things I'm thankful for is the fact I'm able to work for myself. Being able to control when I work is important when it comes to the kids. I don't have to miss out on a lot of the things some parents do. Sam

Hey John,

Do yourself a favor and make the effort to get your family all together once again.

Happy Holidays!

Barbara

Hey John
Im especially thankful for people like you who try to do good after making some mistakes. Who try to see the positives in life. Who sees family and friends as the most important thing in life. We all have to deal with each other out there. And it is the better when we deal with people who are good to others and themselves and not trying to cause some conflict for whatever reasons. Driving out in todays holiday traffic was an example of those who were courteous and those who were ass'.

Be careful out there and take care everyone.

Peace, John.

You list is short, but I see the value you see in the list that is important to you.

P.S. when you decide to loose that weight, it will come off, and you legs will be better with a weight loss.

New Years RESOLUTION is a Diet, as Dieting during the Holiday Season SUCKS....

I get serious about my Diet 1/1/06, maybe we should PM each other for encouragement?

Nightly, I say my prayers and thank God for all the beautiful gifts and priveleges I have been graced with.

1. I am grateful to know God in my life.

2. I am grateful beyond words to have my Family with me, every day!

3. I am grateful for the people who make up my day and allow me to be a part of their community.

I am also very grateful that I have a place here on the internet that allows me to know and meet so many wonderful people I might never have met otherwise.

Lots and lots to be thankful for :)

i am most thankful for my great friend Big D..an awesome pool player and human being whose kindness i am always on the receiving of...

thanks

Thanks to God for all that I have, not the least of which is my health and the well-being of my loved ones; For what is pool-related, thanks to Pat Fleming for Creating Accu-stats, which has created a video history for many years to come of the great pool players we have witnessed and were fortunate to have lived during the time of their greatness...

I'm thankful for quite a few things. I thank the Lord for his forgiveness. I'm thankful for my wife, my daughter, my family, and my job. I'm thankful for my health (even though I'm sitting here with my jaw swollen up like a golf ball where I had my wisdom teeth cut out on Monday morning) even though I'm loopy on painkillers from surgery.

I'm thankful for my good looks, charm, and personality. I'm thankful for being so naturally gifted at pool that if I actually dedicated myself to this game there is no telling how good I could get. Sheesh....I just have a lot to be thankful for! Life is great!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Wow, those meds must really be kicking in about now :D

I am thankful that Christ gives me so many blessings and so many chances at life when i deserve absolutely none of them. A lot of my life has been wasted on things that should've left me dead long ago.
I am thankful for my wife and son and a family that has stood by me even though I screwed them again and again. I am thankful for my health also, which may not be the best its ever been but its still here.
Freedom is one thing I can't be thankful enough for. My brothers and sisters in arms deserve more credit than they are given. To all service members: You are fighting a just cause as long as YOU believe you are. To hell with the politicians and liberals that say otherwise. We join the armed forces to protect not only ourselves, but also those who cannot fight for themselves. GOD BLESS THE USA!

First and foremost it would be my boys, they keep me grounded. They are the ground I walk on, without them their is no me. I was on a highway to hell before me and my wife had our first born, my kids allow me to be thankful for things that I was not thankful for 7 years ago.

And then I am thankful for the armed forces who are fighting for OUR freedom everyday. GOD BLESS THEM
