What happened to Robb Saez?

......and "they" wonder why pool cannot attract big sponsors

You were right, this is she said he said. People who weren't there said Robb would never do such a thing. People who were there said Robb was drunk and belligerent. People who werent there said Shane did it out of nowhere. People who were there said Robb kept goading Shane over and over, they got close to eachother and had a little wrestling match. After it was broken up, more words flew from Robb after Shane asked him to quit talking shit. Shane retorts, Robb comes at him with a pool cue. The End.
If you can find me someone who has a different story, that was actually in the building I'd be surprised.
Lets all see what Robb has to say about it. He and Shane talked on the phone when Robb was on the way to the hospital and McMinn was around Winters all weekend (McMinn and Robb are road dogs) McMinnn did not once say that Winters was at fault.

Its one of the cleanest and nicest rooms in Houston/Texas. Did you forget that the two people involved were both from out of town? Your logic has lost me. Your favorite pool room in (where ever you are from) has an annual tournament and two pros get into a fight once out of 4 years that the tournament has been running. Do you stop going to that pool room? You know who else was there?

Big Tyme Billiards is one of, if not the best place for action in Houston. It has one of the if not the largest APA leagues. It has one of the if not the largest BCA leagues in Houston. There are weekly 8 ball, 10 ball and One pocket tournaments, along with a 9 ball on 9 ft tournament with a break pot that is usually around $500/ball. We hold a yearly 8-10k added tournament that pays out $90k after added money and the Calcutta.

If non of the above interests you, then I'm sorry because its the best Houston has to offer. I guess you'll have to go to Bogies off 1960, real swell environment there.

I left a pool room in Omaha winning a fair amount. The game was fair and the two who lost seemed ok with it as I left.

It was a different story in the parking lot, one guy came at me and I kicked him in the shoe with my gut. The other guy felt my sting when I caught him in the fist with my chin.
Oh yeah.....the good ole days.

Nice job! I bet you almost had 'em until the ground got involved.

All of those players you listed, live there, and none are from out of town along with the ones who fought?
I have to admit, that's a very impressive local customer base.
(I'm just a nobody who is afraid of his shadow, so I don't get out much)
I guess I'm just surprised that when the first bit of "in your face" and "shoving" began that you didn't run them right out the door.
Does the other place you mentioned, "Bogies", have any of this? Maybe they could help you in how to control this type of thing...?
But it's your place, run it as you will.

I don't own or run the place.

Well if I remember correctly the altercation swung in my favor after the smaller guy got his hand stuck in my back pocket and I nearly drug him to death:embarrassed2:

Honestly imho, things happen. Robb will recover and apparently they're friends and even ok. Nothing new, not a big deal, has happened many many times before and will happen many times more. I'm speaking from experience and truly not a big deal. Life goes on.

Thank you. I agree.

It was somewhat of an interesting read for like the first five minutes, but as usual I think folks are making a much bigger deal out of it than what it is. ANY OF US that have ever hung in a pool hall or bar have seen this ( or been involved ) countless times and truly ( IMHO ) is not a big deal and should not be made to be one.

This entire thread is kind of amusing to me. I didn't know there were so many tough guys on AZ. The poolrooms I grew up in we didn't talk about other people's business, plain and simple. Even if you were a witness it was none of your business what happened and the last thing you should do is talk about it publicly. Oh well, I guess those days are over. And if you weren't a witness then you should definitely not be offering opinions on who was right and who was wrong based on hearsay.

I owned and ran poolrooms for twenty two years of my life. Some had alcohol and some didn't. I had to break up more than a few fights and I got beat up a couple of times myself. For the most part my poolrooms were neutral territory and 99% of my customers respected that. After a fight I didn't really want to hear excuses by either party. They both got 86'd since I made it clear that fighting would not be tolerated. It's bad for business! After a fight everyone wants to leave.

Personally I've been lucky. I've had three attempted robberies so far and haven't given up a dime yet. Not many gamblers can say that. I hope my lucky streak continues a little longer. I'm not a big guy and now I'm a senior citizen. At least I'm still above ground.
