What is cortland linen wrap?

These recent threads have me curious. I'm a leather wrap fan so I don't know much about linen wraps. What distinguishes Cortland wrap from other linen wraps, why is it so highly prized, and why is it scarce?
Are there any other tidbits of linen wrap knowledge I might find interesting or should know?
TIA.

Cortland is an old irish linen fishing line that Cortland used to make. The "used to make" is the part that makes it so rare. It is thinner than todays irish linen and offers a finer feel. It also was used on most of the Balabushka's, Szambotis and such and is often sought out for restoration work.

Except for as you say restoration, I doubt I would use it today. I think Hurlburt (sp?) has a much nicer feel when pressed.
