What is your favorite city to play pool in?

I think everyone has a city that they like to play pool in! I love to play in Atlanta, Georgia, New Orleans, Louisiana. And Metairie, Louisiana. I have played in a lot of places before, but these are my favorite places to play in. I realize it is more than one city!

The short list

Now Lock , you should know that it does not matter what the city is, the cue , the table conditions, who's in the room, the music on the juke box or any other outside factor. IF your a player the room , the table ,and the game is your city . That being said there are a few areas I really like. For the record the first two are a close tie. Atlanta is where I live but Greensboro is where I first got a chance to see pool played at a high level ,so it's always near and dear too .Plus in greensboro I am close enough to have some home cooking from my mom . Ok ,so now you know G'boro gets the prize :thumbup:

Greensboro ,NC Breakers (for quiet practice) Gate City (for all the rest)
Melbourne ,Fl The Golden Cue ,not sure if it's still open ??
Cape Coral ,Fl Diamond Billiards ,quite possibly the greatest room on earth
New Orleans ,LA Bufalos .......I'll be back .:D

You are a man of honor and a great pool player, not to mention you are one of my good friends. Last time I played you, it was in Atlanta, GA. Marietta Billiards Club. You were beating up on Mr. Hank at the time. I have to keep an eye on you, and we will play again when you come back to New Orleans, Louisiana. In Buffalo's Billiards, the World's Pool Hall.... Or I might go on the road again and play you up there! Thanks again, my friend.

Good question.

I think that for me it is time dependent.

in the 1990's Tallahassee, FL, Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Dothan, AL

in the 2000's NYC, Edison, NJ (Sand Castle Billiards) and Vegas.
 
Favorite City

In the 80s it was Deer Park, NY.
In the early 90s it was Bay Shore, NY.
In the 00s it was Baton Rouge, LA.
In the 10s it is my house, LA.
Note: I didn't play regularly from 94-2010…maybe 50 times in 16 years.

I agree, however that the place doesn't matter, but the opponent does. And in all the places I've lived, Louisiana has had the best opponents. Given that I gave up gambling in the 90s, that's saying something.
 
Speaking Personally

Citiies I'd rank for best all round pool parlors, quality ogf players, and enjoyment are as follows:

Dalllas/Ft. Worth Metroplex......I mean those darn cowboys are a hoot when it comes to pool....Dave & Buster's in Dallas where they escort you to a table isolated in small settings, they brush your table, ask you what game you'd like to start with and rack your pool balls,...and even ring the buzzer for the waitress....full menu with hard liquor......

Ft. Worth a little less dressy but man what shooters....my best friend lives there.....Claude Gragg.....that boy can play.......handles his cue like he was a maestro leading an orchestra.

Then Kanasas City........then Brooklyn, N.Y where I lost a lotta dough to Cicero Murphy,.....followed of course by Manhattain (NYC)....West 44th Street (Ames) & 51st St (McGirr;s) lower east side Mulberry St. (Soho Billiards)and ...then Los Angeles, CA........best of my best.....but the #1 parlor of all time was and will always be Ames as far as I'm concerned . The history, the great matches, the millions of follars won and lost over decades of hight stakes games by the greatest players in the world....back when there was no tour...the only tournaments were world championships and maybe something Byrunswick occasionally sponsored.

No bigger twon than NYC for the action to take place....lots of whales....and let's not forget the movie either....get to play on the same table that Jackie & Paul played on....it's the Mecca of Pool and nirvana all combined into one experience.....with the noise of the city that never sleeps seeping through the windows.....it's a joint......not a finesse place...not for dates...nuttin' but "SERIOUS" pool played there.
 
Sacramento-Jointed Cue

PHX 20 years ago was real good too.

LA was good 20 years ago as well.
 
I work on the road so I have played alot of places.....

Port Clinton, Ohio at the Rack Attack was really cool. Tournaments every night! Closed in the last year i'm sorry to say.

Chatanooga TN was really cool. 2 nice places to play. Diamond Billiards and The Billiard Club!

St. Lucie, Fl. was the coolest! Amy's Billiards and Ultimate Billiards are there. Amy's was my favorite but Ultimate Billiards is the nicest pool room I have ever seen!
 
When I was still living back home there was a small gem of a place in downtown Chickasha, OK. I don't remember the name of it now and I'm not sure if it still there. It was pretty old school in that when you when you cleared the table or the game ended, you simply called out "Rack" and someone would come and rack for you and you'd pay them for the game you just finished.

Magoo's in Tulsa seemed to be a fairly nice place as well as one in Broken Arrow but I don't recall the name of that one either.

Currently living in the Atlanta area, I'm just now getting exposed to Mr. Cues II and it seems like a fairly nice place thus far but is quite the drive for me.

Classic Billiards in Conyers is pretty good but I haven't been there more than just a couple of times.

I like your post. Mr Cues II is a very nice place to shoot pool. I use to shoot there all the time.
