If you had to have one piece of apparel that has to be just right when you play, what would it be?

I would pick comfortable shoes!!! :D :D

I always prefer to play in short sleeves. For some reason long sleeves bug the crap out of me when im shooting.

Easy for me dungarees, t-shirt, and sneakers. Given my druthers, I never wear anything but jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers for everything except when it gets too hot or too cold.

Of those 3, I guess the most critical piece are the sneakers.

funny thread but i actually am particular about this too...
i wear cargo pants- comfortable and loose with pockets for my stuff. I always wear a t-shirt but also wear a button down jean shirt over it during the winter- i sometimes think poolhalls don't pay the heat bill and shivering makes you miss. :-) So if it's cold i'll leave the longsleeve on until i warm up. Sneakers are a must too.

Oh yes, I forgot the most important part:

I must never have anything in my pockets, or on my wrists -- like a watch.

Go Commando!

Its gotta be the shoes. I wear a dress style shoe with slip resistant soles and Dr. Scholl's inserts. I think they are just as comfortable as sneakers with that "classier" look.

Definitely the shoes! I believe that proper technique in pool, like most sports, begins in the feet. In addition, pool players walk a lot in a session. I think I remember reading that a good pool player will walk an average of 3-4 miles in a 5-hour session (I say good players, because they walk around the table more). For those reasons, I wear comfortable shoes with non-slip soles, like Rockports or Hush Puppies. For the rest of my apparel, I favor slacks and a polo shirt. It's an understated but professional look, and I believe that to be professional you must act professional.

Good point, but depending on the surface one might vary their choices. Depending on how hot the room is would determine my choices. Being too hot during a match will cause loss of focus and too cold also affect ones concentration. Gambling, loose fit and especially non binding in the gut and the shoulder area of the swing arm.

Absolutely! I never wear tight clothing when I'm playing pool, and of course, you've got to adjust to the climate. Since I live in the Caribbean it's usually never an issue, but when I travel to colder climates I always have sweaters that are designated as pool sweaters, since they are less bulky and make less swishing noises.

Lol....I do!! I have a few choice warm weather tops that fit snug, and tend to show some cleavage. It's the most subtle form of sharking I know...Lol. Besides, every now and again, it's nice to let the 'girls' out to play!:D

I have found that the nicer I dress, the better I seem to play. I think the confidence you feel when you look nice, carries over into your play.

Shoes are definitely important...I have a pair of Nike Airs that are awesome to play in, and on the dressier side, a pair of Bass clogs that feel like you're walking on air. Love 'em!!!
