Where to buy Expandable Butt Cap Part

Hello All
I have seen on Bert Kinister's Widowmaker Cues, and the Dooley Stealth Cues, and piece of metal that can be loosen/tighten to lengthen the cue for long strech shots.

You take the Butt cap, and unscrew it a few turns, then grab the butt cap, and PULL out this long rod rod, that is attached. It lengthens the cue some 6-8 inches. Then you twist right a few turns, and it "locks" in place.

Since I have seen this on a few differnet cue makers cues, I suspect that is an OEM manufacture for this part somewhere.

I hope I explained this well enough, was not able to find a pic for you guys. But I had a few in my hands at the Derby Classic this year, so I know they exist.

Does anyone have some comments, or an address for this part?
Has any one installed one in a cue?

Thanks

I think that was something Nat Green from Southeast Cues was fitting to cues. You can get his contact info at the ACA site , www.cuemakers.org .

He does, I plan on doing some more if I can ever find the contact info for the gentleman in Canada. The patent belongs to him.

Mike,
I sent you a copy of the patent to your business email, and it has the inventor's contact information on the front page.

Thank you very much. I sent an email to two of the people that also carried them. It's a nice invention but it does change the way I build cues, as far as balancing.

Send it to me also

Richard,
I have made one contact in Canada for the extender, I am waiting for one here. As soon as I have both, I'll forward the info to you.

I know one guy who has that thing on his cue. Made by a very famous maker.
It now rattles and barely tightens.
It messes up the balance as well.
The first time I saw that thing was at the Riviera back in mid 90's during the world 8-ball there ( the year Bustamante won it ). Massey, Natt Green and one Canadian maker ( Hearn , I believe ) were offering it to makers. I was with Judd Fuller when I saw it.
Judd never bought it.
I think it'd be ok for a b/j cue but not on a custom playing cue.

It adds 1/3 oz to the cue, it also requires the butt sleeve be cut off for the installation. The installation is irreversible--if there is any rattle in the future or if you do not like it, the extension cannot be just taken away; the butt sleeve is bored and cannot just be glued back to the cue.

I know a lot of great cue makers who would never use that extension on their cues. Some told me they think it not only affects the balance but also weakens the integrity of their cues.

I own one of Mr. Webb's jump extenders and only about 3 months ago stopped using it as my regular playing cue because I had many offers to buy it and thought it may come up missing. I love the way the cue plays and the extender comes into play every once and awhile. Mike if you get some more extenders you can put me down for another one.

Mr. RWomel
Are a cue maker.

Mike
It's not Tap Tap Tap
It's Center Drill Drill Tap :D

Well, I have been quoted $20 each for the unit from the gentleman in Canada. He also has a neat quick release joint that is not for sale yet.

Recieved details on installation, and I agree with the comments posted here, the installation is not reversable. And I agree that balance and possible "buzzing" could work it's way into the cue.

But a few customers are requesting to get a cue with one, and I am researching, thinking, and weighting my options.

Mike, i am just starting in cue building, with plenty of time on my hands, and not needing to make my house payment from sales. I am well along in years, retired from our family sporting goods business of 45 years. (89 years total in business counting my father's time in the business). Let's say billiards has been in blood for MANY years, and now i get to "play" seriously with something I have dreamed about for a long time--building cues.

Thanks for all the help, folks. Much appriciated.
