I have been using Seyberts. Years ago I used Muellers... very good cue service. Anyone have experience with them lately.

I had a 13MM shaft for my Troy Downey cue turned down to 12.75 and match the taper of my Lucasi shaft done in person by Ernie Martinez and he charged me $20 which included waxing the shaft he turned down.
Doing it in person with the lucasi shaft as a guide he constantly mic'd both shafts and size and taper of the Downey shaft was perfect with the Lucasi shaft.
Best to have it done in person if possible.

Send it to Guido Orlandi.... 906.239.2913 You'll be glad you did...
Guido said he would be glad to do the job for $200, with paid shipping & Insurance back to you. You'll need to send the Cue, so he can measure it & make sure there is enough material for the job to be done correctly

Listen…. I don’t care about nit picking of the cues ability to preform after alteration!! I’m well skilled enough to adjust to performance after the alteration!!

I’m just looking for someone that complete the task of measuring it down.

$200? Mueller’s Troy Downey - shaft taper change is $20! He has two of my shafts as we speak - Troy is one of the best cue guys in the U S- He also reconditions the shaft when the taper work is completed - turn around time is longer than Proficient - both guys do excellent work

We can adjust to all kinds of things but that doesn't mean we are happy with the way they hit or feel after the alteration. Better know just how you want it cut, how long a taper, how fast a taper, diameter at the tip, etc. Once it is cut down there is no going back! Unfortunately just buying a new shaft gives no guarantees as well. I have three Rich Chudy shafts for one of his cues. They are all done the same way by him. One hits like no other shaft I have ever owned. It is awesome. The other two are good but nothing like the third one. I have no idea why that is!!
But the point is be sure what you want as there is no going back once it is done. If buying a new shaft and the trim doesn't match the butt section but it is a great hitting shaft, I wouldn't care.
On the other hand, playing with a cue that has a pro taper would always be a plus over one that does not regardless of how really great the hit is. It is just more comfortable to use. I do wonder what kind of cue you have as I don't see any better quality (even less expensive production) cues that don't already have a pro taper when you buy them. Anyway, that's just some thoughts on the matter to cover some of the bases.

Bro…. I don’t care about anything other than taking my shaft perfectly to 12.5mm in a pro taper shape!! You got a dude?

Downey does nice work. I’d only let him handle it specifically at Muellers.

Whoever does it, ask them how much sanding they'll end up doing. This can separate someone professional and with the proper equipment from someone just doing it for a hobby.
If they cut the shaft accurately, very little sanding will be required.
I don't recall ever ruining anything with sandpaper. Just saying.

"Pro taper" is not a precise dimension either. I think you need to be more specific with whomever you choose to help you with this.

I don't recall implying that. ;)
Sanding is never going to be as precise as a high speed cutter in a CNC or a lathe. Depending on how hard your ferrule is, you can end up with varying diameter real fast if you are sanding. Some shafts can have certain spots in them that vary in hardness, and sanding can end up taking more or less off in those areas.

Pro taper is a very simple equation- you state the desired shaft diameter in MM and the length that you desire that diameter to remain consistent on the shaft from where the ferrule meets the shaft. "Standard" pro taper is normally 12 1/2 inches as defined by many cue repair shops. This length can be altered as per the shaft owner's choice, sometimes at additional cost from the cue repair standard fee for a shaft re- taper to a 12 1/2 inch length.
Mueller is $20 for a shaft re- taper to a 12 1/2 inch length, beyond that length is an additional fee- very simple equation.

I love my main player but it doesn’t have a pro taper. I’ve been playing with my back up cue and that one has a pro taper and im so use to it I can’t switch back to my main player!!!

Does anyone know any cue makers that can bring my main player shaft down to a pro taper without royally screwing up the shaft and ferrule?

I will mail it out to who ever as long as I know they have a strong reputation for giving the best results im looking for.

Thank you to all that reply and help me out. Cheers 😁
I had Seibert's Billiards Supply in Coldwater, Michigan do three of them for me and reduce them down to 12.25 diameter, they did a great job.
