In your opinion who has to be the favorite this year. and please pick a dark horse.

My favorite has to be Neils Feijen

Dark horse has to be Dennis Hatch if he plays and stays out of the pol hall at night...Dennis is playing and breaking real strong right now from what i saw at the Joss Tour event.....................................mike

He is there? He did pretty well in Taiwan correct? Any other Taiwanese coming?

My favorite would have to be Bustamante and my dark horse would be Andreas Roschkowsky but Sharknu has agreat DH pick too.

hohman or deuel as favourites.

how about sigel as dark horse. if he's been practicing lately--and rememer, he did not lose a set in his recent world 8-ball championships victory--who knows.

Actually if Sigel is actually playing in it I really hope he does well, and if he plays like he once was capable of he is definately a threat.

I think I am going to take Archer as the favorite this year, he played pretty strong in the WPC groups and is really due to snap off a big win, its been a while since he won a major.

Dark horse pick is Tyler Edey.

I agree with celtic

I know he is listed on the player list, but so are all of the other former winners. Mike just don't care enough about pool to play. besides he wants/needs an appearance fee just for showing up. i know of atleast 2 tournaments he was invited to and he called to see if there was extra money for him to come...............................................mike

I agree with you Mike.
Neils made a run at it last year, but came up a little short. I don't think he will let that happen again.

My dark horse choice would be Kid Delicious.

I would say Bustamente is the favorite with his recent form and Kim Davenport will be my Dark Horse.

I've got 4 favorites--I just couldn't pick one!:

Neils Feijen
Efren Reyes
Keith McCready
Thomas Engert

My dark horsies, and again I couldn't pick just one:

Danny Basivich
Robbie Saez
Earl Strickland

You've got great taste, Wendy! He's one of my faves, too! :p

This year is going to be a tough field for sure. With many international players in attendance, there will be some excellent matches for the railbirds.

One thing I really like about the U.S. Open is that every match is scheduled. So, if I want to watch Kid Delicious' match, as an example, I can arrange my schedule to be there.

Last time I checked, there were 150-plus PAID and CONFIRMED pool players on the U.S Open roster. There are many players' names currently not listed that I know plan on attending. They better not wait too long to pay that nickel entry fee because it might just fill up (IMO).

I predict that this year's U.S. Open will be the biggest field ever in its history, and I can't wait to get there! :D

I concur..... Chen as Dark Horse..... so hard to pick a "white horse", there's so much talent out there....

Go Philippines!

picking ..

Without seeing the whole field, it makes it difficult
but I will pick:

Danny Basavich (due for a biggy win)
Kim Davenport (Like Fast Eddie in Color of Money, time to
show'm I am really back!)
Sigel - if playing will do well, but will falter in later tougher matches.
Or the pro player that has befriended and running with Gabe Owen now,
since Double J and Gabe has this inherited type title thing going from
friendship in the past .... lol

Favorite: Thorsten Hohmann / Francisco Bustamante (toss-up)
Dark Horse: Kim Davenport

Because it's usually thought that because of his temper or whatever, he won't be able to pull through. JMO

See you there! :)
Wendy, temper or no temper... he is "ALWAYS" the absolute #1 favorite to win the Open. And yes you will see me there. Hey wait a minute, you don't know who I am... how did you know you'de see me there?

Marlon Manalo

If the Philipinos show up in force, my prediction is Marlon Manalo.

There is a younger Pinoy that is suppose to give Marlon fits at the table.

We might see a all-Pinoy final.

My favorites would have to be Feijen and Hohmann.

Dark horse is definitely Tyler Edey, he had a good showing last year and I'm also biased because he's a hometown guy. Another darkhorse would be Raj Hundal if you can call him a darkhorse after winning the WPM.
