Who to see in MA for shaft/tip work?

Had a new tip put on a shaft and it was pretty much butchered, need to get it done right (like I should have done in the first place :sorry: ). Would like a Kamui Black Soft to be specific.

I know Mike Webb is in RI and I worked with him before, anyone closer to central MA?

I actually looks like the guy that did the work took off a mm or two off the ferrule also, pretty disgusted with the whole thing. Tip plays like crap, was not shaped or burnished, my $1,200 stick looks like it came out of a rack in a dive bar.

you could try Steve Therrien of Therrien Cues... His work is outstanding. He is right over the MA border (nh). PM me and I will give you his phone #.

This will get me as far a drive as RI though, was looking for maybe 30 min one way or another from about mid-state. Does Zinzola do tips?

A few options in southern New Hampshire:

1. Len van Hirtum in Nashua should be able to retip your cue. Len makes custom cues and he also runs a retail shop called Break and Run Billiards. Call ahead to ask if Len has Kamui tips in stock; in the second link below you can see he offers them through the store's website.

2. Ac-Cue-Rate Billiards in Pelham, NH. I've had cues retipped there, and they fixed a ferrule for me for free. Nice guys, good work, but a longer drive for you.

3. Joe Callaluca might be able to help you, but I'm not sure if he does minor cue repairs. He's a cuemaker--if you search for his name here on AzB you'll find examples of his work.

You might want to call a local pool hall and ask who they'd recommend.

"Need" is a strong word :-)

I'll PM you my contact info, let me know what you have.

If you don't see Rodney and you don't want to drive to me or Steve, Give Tony Zinzola a call. Sorry if you have to change the ferrule, Not everyone offering cue repairs should be doing cue repairs.

Tell us who did the repair work and trashed it

I don't think you want someone else to get ripped- mark-
Simple as who not to use! Maybe just a first name ,or the city or address ?

The ferrule is probably fine, but may need to be evened out, it looks like it may have been cut crooked. This came out of The Billiards Cafe in Ayer, but people there have had tips done before and they don't seem to be complaining. Mine could have been an exception to the work.

Thanks Mike, I figured Zonzola would be OK to do the work just was not sure if he took on any type of tip installations. PS, that Joss you fixed up for me is still going strong, going to pass it on to my son to use.

Thank you, glad I could help. I talked to Tony about this for you, he really doesn't want to start walk in repair work. Being one that knows him, he's got his hands full.
