I live in Phoenix and right now visiting the Wilmington and South Port areas for relocation. I am retired, play at least five days a week (nice wife). I prefer to play in a nice place, with clean tables and good competitors.

I'd appreciate any suggestions about where to go look for a game in Wilmington, southport or Leland. We are considering the entire Nc Coast,,so any suggestiin in other cities are welcome.

Breaktime is great. Eight 9 foot Diamonds refelted and 14 Diamond barboxes not even a month old. Daily pool specials, $6 all you can play from 11am till 6pm. Great players and great first Tuesday of the month tournament. Plus other tournaments.

Ortons, downstairs on the waterfront still has a plaque where Mosconi set a record there which was later broken by himself. Neat place. On the left before the Cotton Exchange.

Rack'm Darts & billiards and Juction Billiards are great places also. I'm.leaving one out and it'll come to me soon. If you make it to Myrtle Beach, come see us at Shore Thing Billiards. One 9 foot Diamond and twelve barboxes all Diamonds. We have the big GSBT coming up march 10th with Shannon Dualton and Marge. This luck and i'll bump into at one of the first Tuesday tournaments at Breaktime. Ron

I wish Wilmington had this place when I lived there! I miss it there for sure. I'll be visiting once again this summer with the family so I'll make it a point to come in and check it out. Sounds like a nice pool hall. I only ever played at that place in the alley....can't remember the name....cool place but not for pool really ;)

Breaktime is connected to a bowling alley - this may be the same place you're talking @. There's a decent restaurant separating the alley from the tales/full bar. BTW, they also have a bunch of Gold Crowns and IIRC, a 10' snooker table at the front. Afternoon action from my visits there is pretty sparse. If you're looking to play for anything more than a few bucks, you'll probably need to ask around - maybe someone could call someone that could match up.

AZBer "molly's boy" plays there and will gamble it up. You could pm him. He's a fun dude!

Cool, thanks for the info! I'll keep this until I get ready to head that way and give him a heads up then. I'm looking forward to it for sure. Life is good in Wilmington. Man, I hate to think about it! Makes me depressed :) ha! I miss it.

Breaktime was definitely a good suggestion. Good, friendly pkayers, nice staff, clean tables. Thanks for the suggestion.

Rack'm is nearby, and a little rough around the edges. More of a bar than a pool hal. Might find a good game there.

Junction does not open until 3pm, and seems to be a night time crowd.

Orton' s - what a freaking disappointment. Wasn't expecting good pool, or real pool players, but I did expect a good looking, historic bar with some character. I had the honor of losing to Mr Misconi many years ago - he was a gentleman. I'd envisioned a more appropriate setting to commemorate his achievement.

We found a couple of other places - but Breaktime was the standout.

I hadn't been to Ortons in awhile and I only went there twice while drinking downtown. When we go to Wilmington, we always go to Breaktime, maybe Junctions . There is nothing in Southport for billiards except some barboxes in a few bars.

As you seen, Breaktime no longer has 9 foot Brunswicks. That's where all the brand new 7 foot Diamonds are. I think they took out the snooker table also.

Remember, we have that Shannon Daulton GSBT this weekend at Shore Thing Billiards in Myrtle Beach if you can make it.

One snooker table remains at Breaktime. In the afternoons, pool was $1 per hour on the nine foot tables. Nice place.
