im thinking of having one built, and im not which woods to use, and what looks good. I did a search on here and didnt find much, i did find an ernie guitterez mw that was gaboon ebony and paduk that looked really nice......anybody have any nice pics....also tell what woods are in the cue if you know.....thanks

HOLY SHIT!!

That is awesome looking!!! I have to ask a dumb question here. That wood, is it smooth? Man it just jumps right out at you, Talk about depth.

I have a bacote merry widow and a madasgascar rosewood merry widow. No pics on me now though. Bacote seems to be love/hate as far as looks but I like it and it hits real solid. The rosewood is has much less figuring but is a nice very deep red/medium brown color. Both have linen wraps.

I think it's hard to go wrong with good BEM or cocobolo with the right wrap and ringwork.

That smokewood looks way cool!!!! I bet my wife would like that on her cue. I will have to show it to her.

I have an old Schick Merry Widow cue from the 70's I am getting authenticated and shafts made for by Mr. Schick. The wife and I took a trip down to Shreveport to Drop it and another cue off.. will post pics as soon as I get them back.. borrowed the attatched pic from chalkers similar but not mine...:D

So what is a Merry Widow cue?
Just a regular cue with no inlays?

I thought it was a one piece butt, wrapped or not, with no inlays.
I see most of these have a forearm, handle, and butt sleeve construction like a regular cue.
So I ask ... what qualifys a cue to be called a Merry Widow?
