Mezz also has a great playing shaft.

Yep! Don`t forget that Mezz is comming out with a new shaft this month. The WX900, wich has a short ferrulle like 314/2 and has a 12mm tip.
I have ordered a shaft, i think this might be the best compromise out there.

I play almost solely Predator now - BK 3, Air Jump, Z2 shaft and even my case - so I guess I'm a fan. I don't notice that much difference between LD shafts as long as you are talking about the same taper, diameter and tips. I'm very happy with the Z2 on my Ariel Carmeli butt. OB shafts are my second choice and it would be a toss up except for the deal with break speed.

As for the BK3 - I had a BK 2 for years and _really_ liked it. When the BK3 came out I "upgraded" and found I had more problems with miscues. My break is pretty wild and out there so an occasional miscue has always been an issue. After putting a bit of focus on it I'm breaking well with the BK3 and am happy to have it. I think the BK 3 is better but you have to play better to make it worthwhile as it is not as forgiving.

Recently I let a friend try the BK3, he is more focused than I am and he still has a BK 2 - and he immediately fell in love with it.

Played with a Pred shaft for a long time, went to an OB Classic and won't ever go back. Looking into a Jacoby LD shaft now-I think shafts are more important than butts, but feel is all subjective.

Got a predator sneaky pete when they first came out in the mid 90's and a 314 shaft for my Schon not long after. I tried an OB1 but couldn't shoot quite as good with it as I could with the 314. Changed to the 314-2 shaft with a 12.3 mm tip when it came available which for me shot a little better than the 314. Also bought a Z2 shaft later but could never get used to the taper. All of 4 of the shafts play fairly close but the 314-2 was my go to shaft until I recently bought a Low Deflection cue from John Barioni about 2 months ago. I liked John's cue so well that I have a second cue coming next week. I never thought I would ever shoot with any other shaft than a Predator but after playing with his cue I will never go back. However I still do use a Predator as my break cue.

Thanks ;)

I've got another question.. Do we know when Predator going to update their shafts 314-2 and Z-2 to 314-3 and Z-3

Are the going to do it at all ? If yes, have we got any signals when they going to do so?

I recently acquired a Jim Peirce Cue with a 30'' 314-2 shaft.I am one guy
that believes the butt of the cue plays a huge part in the hit and feel of the
shaft. The butt is straight grained bowling alley wood, which I thought he
only made shafts out of but I guess he makes butts out of it as well..
I've let 5 guys hit with it,2 of them never liked Predator shafts. When it was all
said and done, out of the 5 guys, they all loved the hit.
3 of them made a offer on the cue.The funny thing is that 2 of the offers came
from the guys that said they didn't like Predator shafts.
Personally I love Predator shafts put on the right kind of butt.

I heard from the Predator rumour sites that they're adopting the Apple iPhone marketing model. The shafts will go for $500 a piece, but if you sign a two year contract with your local pool hall, you can get it for $20 a month. As soon as Predator announce the new 314-3 shaft, they're going to start development of the 314-4 shaft. :D

Thanks ;)

I keep hearing positive thing about Pierce and his bowling alley products. I think I'm gonna have to make an order.
What kind of joint does your pierce cue have ??

The pin is 3x810 with a solid black phenolic joint. If I look close the Phenolic has a weave pattern in it.
I've never been a fan 30'' shafts but the 30'' Predator shaft plays great off this butt.
Jim makes a very solid cue.

Hi once again ! ;)

Maybe you might be able to help me.

I playing mainly with close bridge, how my bridge will react with Z-2 shaft taper ? Will the fingers keep opening ? Is it irritating to use Z-2 shaft for close bridge? ( I'm using a long bridge, like Shane or Earl)

Yep the Z-2 taper is annoying on powerfull draw and follow shots if you are using closed bridge.
314/2 is way more comfortable for us closed bridge players.
There was a guy commenting on the new WX900 shaft from Mezz and that had a really nice taper and a 12mm tip diameter, that`s my next shaft...

yep, that's way I asked for it :) I read about it, and I was busy wondering how comfortable or uncomfortable it has to be to play with stronger taper (Z-2) comparing to pro taper (314-2).
Specially with long stroke.

I would probably love Z-2 with pro taper shape of shaft.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share with everybody, especially those who are not sure if it's worth it to buy Predator shaft or whole cue. I can say now, YES IT IS !!

I used to play with Lucasi LE-9 with original Lucasi shaft, when I bought Predator Throne-3 with Z-2 shaft (like 2,5 months ago) , my game nearly immediately rocket to the sky It was and still is, soo cute, nice to feel that the cue ball goes right there where you wanted. Once again, thak shaft is amazing.

I was worrying how I will play with Z-2 (stronger shaft, shape), because I play with close brigde. But to be honest, I didn't even noticed the difference.

God Bless
;))

recently Picked up a predator road line from a friend cheap withe the 314 2 shaft. My lambros is now put away in storage. I think it hits great and I don't have to worry about damaging my custom cue anymore. lol

Hey,

Excellent question you're asking. I don't own a Predator myself but teammates of mine on league nights do and I've shot with Predators.

For breaking - I use an 18 oz Predator and it is my absolute favorite break cue - definitely spreads the balls around the table best.

For shooting - Have used a 19 oz Predator with a low-deflection shaft and medium-hard tip and it shoots true. Makes shooting long shots with English a lot easier.

Numerous people have also said that Predator shafts are some of the best in the world ;)

Thanks for the update!

I am currently doing my home work for my next shaft. I am between Z2, OB Pro & McDermott i3. I currently play with a 12.75 G-Core McDermott shaft.

At the SBE this year I tried them all for a very short period of time. Really liked the i3, but there wasen't much of a difference between the three. I want to play with all of them again before purchase.

not awesome at all

I have seen some horror stories when it comes to their shafts.

ferral's are cheaply made, I think the joint is horrible too (and I love a good Joint )

Yes they may be LD but I trust a traditional maple shaft.

production cues with the price of a custom, PUKE!
