Hey ya'll. A few weeks ago a reporter did a story on me.

http://www.fox17.com/newsroom/sports/vid_296.shtml

I want to save that video somehow. It's something I'd love to show the grandkids one day but I don't know how to save it. Can you help?

I'll really appreciate it. I tried finding a program that would save it, using firefox, and even pulling source code. But, I couldn't do it. Thanks if you've got any ideas. If not, thanks for watching! ;)

Since the story is on YOU, if you contacted the station, they would probably give you a copy. I don't know how long they hold on to them, though, so you might want to contact them soon...

arent you able to just watch the vid on your media player and then record it to your hd, then burn it onto a disc? might be coded and not let you but I'd try that first if you already haven't.

If you use Firefox, you can install this plugin that allows you to download all the clips from sites like Youtube. It will probably work for your clip (not positive, but I dont see why not).

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5229

PS. Congrats on the news story. You're an impressive fellow

*EDIT: I tried it. The clip isnt an FLV, so my idea wont work. Sorry Eric.

Streaming video can be tricky to grab. In most cases you can do it with a program, and there are a few I like. They sort of race each other to keep up with changes in the way video is streamed... at any given moment one might work and the other won't. But if you have both of them you'll be able to grab most anything:

http://www.orbitdownloader.com/download.htm

Orbit is free. The interface is a little busy. You want to do tool --> grab++. Then refresh the fox web page, and you'll see an flv video link appear in the grab++ window. Check the empty box next to it and click "Download".

A little more straightforward. Has a working demo but it cuts off some of the video unless you upgrade to the paid version.

For everything else:

Also very simple and I've been able to grab specific stuff that stumps the other 2.

Great story Eric! I have had many tv stations do similar stories over the years. I made sure I got a copy from the tv stations. Hope you can too, my friend! Nice job!

Well, I went the easy route just to make sure I got it before they take it down. I put a camera on a tripod and recorded the stream. (I'm so ashamed.) ;)

I'll try Creedo's ideas asap!

Thanks for your help guys. :D

I couldnt figure anything out about the source code stuff, though I tried.

If it doesn't work out for some reason I can save it and send the file to you... good luck.
