Hohmann's straight pool break down to the foot rail and back?

I've heard Thorsten say that he does it because he got tired of getting stuck in the pack. In an old Ray Martin video from a class in New Hampshire, he mentioned that he likes back of the pack break shots because it never fails to leave him a shot.

    triangle

In the old days (at least at some tournaments) they had an extra ball that was used to rack, and then the head ball was removed. Makes it pretty obvious exactly where the rack's supposed to go. But I have to say, I get a little chuckle out of the rack position being some sort of impediment to...

A Very Rare Cue - Schmelabushka

Glad to hear this Brian. I was getting close to ordering from them, simply because I don't know who else to order from. My requirements are very modest. I've not heard a bad word about them yet. It's not rocket science. Just takes a company that gives a crap, and everything I've heard makes it...

All of this nonsense goes away if you have an actual ref at important matches. But whatever... 9 ball on mini tables is all the rage...

    triangle

from the wpa rules: The marked outline of the triangle will be used to determine whether an intended break ball is in the rack area. ... ... A ball is considered to interfere with the rack if it is within or overlaps the outline of the rack.

What happened to the OB 136 cue?

My only experience was after Royce passed away. I'll just say that I tried really hard to end up with a somewhat reasonable OB cue and eventually just gave up and returned the whole thing.

    14.1 Rule Question - Ball-in-Hand on a Double Hit?

If it's intentional, it can be considered unsportsmanlike conduct, and the ref has broad discretion how to handle it. Assuming you have a ref, of course, which is hardly ever the case even at championship levels. But most of the time, if you have the table in 14.1, you're at the advantage so...

McDermott New H-Series Cue .. Very Nice.

My guess is that the bumper is attached to that internal carbon fiber "core", and when you unscrew it the whole thing comes out. You adjust the weight and then screw the whole thing back in. That's just a guess, but as an engineer that would be the simplest way to do it, IMHO. Could also be that...

    Old McDermott box case

FWIW, I got that case when I bought my D-19, and it really is a nice case as box cases go. :) Mine got stolen (the case not the cue). Wish I still had it.

    Aramith Red Circle

Personally, I like whatever comes with the Aramith Tournament sets. The cue ball doesn't seem as lively as some other cue balls, but I feel like it is very controllable and it will still do everything you want it to do if you hit it in the right place and stroke it well.
