Just thought I'd drop a quick review of the Shaft Freeze that Mike Gulyassy is offering out of his shop (see link).

First of all, it took less than a week to turn around. The price is about $70. You pay him $60 for the process and return shipping. I paid about $10 to ship the shaft too him (ground), so in total about $70.
I sent him a year and a half old OB1 shaft that I put some miles on, and it had some issues with the "micro-splinters". Mike cleaned / turned down the shaft and applied the freeze process. I notice the shaft is a bit thinner, but based on the dings / splinter pits, I wasn't surprised. And it wasn't turned down so much that other players checking out the cue noticed. Mike applied the freeze process to the part of the shaft that was turned down, and the OB1 ferrule.
I shot with the shaft extensively Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I've never had a shaft felt so slick (and I clean my cues after every use, because I prefer a slick shaft). I also didn't notice any discoloration (blue-ing) of the shaft. Note that I also have a Gulyassy JB cue with a newly treated shaft that is about a month old. It too has no discoloration and is slick as the day I got it.
I'll try to post back after a month, and after 6 months of use on my shoot shaft, but as of now I love it and am recommending it to friends.
