Inexpensive Quality Needed in a Cue WTB

Ok, here is the situation.

I have a good player on my team and he is cheap. Always shoots with a house cue, he will wander around and find a couple candiates and I will usually grab the sticks he chooses cleaning the shaft off a little and working the tip.

He saw a deal in the monthly pool magazine for $60 that included a tacky cheap looking import cue with a soft case, chalkers, tip tool, chalk ect.

I am on a mission to spend his alloted huge dollars (the $60 ill check what shipping on his deal is I might have a few more dollars) and get him a better cue. I have an extra case, all the other stuff to throw in. but I want a good player to have a little better equipment

I have gleaned that it should be 20 oz, and he would like something a little decorative as opposed to plain jane looking.

My first instinct is a sw style kaiser possibly, a players? or mebe one of the sw looking adams, a mcdermott....many thoughts here.

I just dont want him to get the magazine cue. I would really appreciate some advice/opinions or if you have something that might fit the bill please post or shoot me a pm

Thanks

Check with Koinnkid - TROY

He has the SW style Kaiser cues, and will give you the best price on them. I also had a cheap friend, and I got one with two shafts and shipped for under $100 from Troy. Great guy to deal with, and very close to your friend's budget.

Here is the thread where I bought one.Kaiser from troy

Sincerely Good luck with search!!!!!

Mission Impossible?

You've taken on a tough mission. It's hard to find a good shaft for $60 much less a full cue. If your buddy is willing to spend a little more, I've got one of my early cues that I would be willing to let go for $120 plus shipping. The points are a little narrow, but it's dead straight and solid. I'll also offer a money back guarantee. If he gets the cue and doesn't like it, send it back in original condition and I'll refund his money (minus shipping).

19 oz., balanced 18" from butt cap, 13mm shaft w/ Titan ferrule and LePro tip

Bump

Thanks for the options, info and pm's so far, I am sending him a link to the thread so I must to say that I didnt mean "cheap" :)

He is only willing to invest a minimum amount of money so that he doesnt have to worry if his equipment is every stolen. (yes, that sounds much better)

I just checked with Muellers, The bad news is that shipping was free on the deal (no extra bucks) and the good news is that it is $10 more since they are out of the no-name cues and are substituting Mueller brand cues. (They will give deadstroke cues for the original $60, but I dont think he wants the airbrushed skeletons) possibly a $70.00 budget instead of $60

Let me know of more so we can have the best selection.

All help greatly appreciated

K.E.N.

I like that cue Bill.

Take the Bill cue

that looks like a winner to me. A nice offer to get a guy a nice cue!

budget cue

For sure 60.00 won't buy much. I would abandon that search if that's his budget. Some of those old purpleheart and rosewood Dufferin house cues are monster players, and if that's what he's been playing with he'd be sorely disappointed in an "off the rack" 60.00 cue. My advise to him would be to spend a bit more and find a good used predator sneaky pete or something like Bill's cue that posted here. Once he sees that the difference in quality goes way up when youre ready to spend about 150.00, it opens up a lot more possibilities. If he's that intent on being cheap, stick with the house cue.

Staying with a house cue

Would you think staying with a house cue is better than getting an inexpensive cue that you get used to shooting with (hit, feel consistant) and has a well groomed tip?

Very few places with Dufferin purplehearts these days.

No he would be much better off getting an inexpensive cue such as I offered. They are great quality for the money.
He would than have something that he could get use to.
This would especially be good if this is a travel league.
I have been selling people there first cues for over 11 years now.
I have seen many a player improve there game with what I offer.

I have a McDermott with 2 shafts.
Red Plain Jane. Slightly used. Still very good condition.

I would let it go for $75 shipped. A steal price for a McDermott with 2 shafts, but hey, other AZers have helped me out in the past. I am not a rich man or I would help even more.

Let me know if you are interested! Either way thanks!
