Dear all,

Welcome to the last of one pocket shot by shot series. These was an experiement to make another different example on how one could use CueTable in a discussion on shots with multiple possible outcomes. (A first time for me, very fun!) So far I have been trying to be neutral. This time I am also showing my pick at the end of this post.

Hopefully you guys enjoy seeing everyone's master plan and big thanks to everyone who joined. You are all winners in spirit. Any comments or suggestions on how to improve this public experience are greatly appreciated!

We all need to talk, learn and share more about shots if we as a whole want to 1) get better at pool and 2) get pool better :)

Part I: One Pocket Break Shot
Part II: Your Return Break Shot

Alright, back to shots. In your answer to the break shot, assuming you have planned everything well and hid the QB the way you wanted. I have draw a series of possible shots that your opponent might do in each scenario. most of them are not difficult to do imo.

2a

2a-3a counter safe, taking balls away from you

2a-3b aggressive 2 rail attack

2a-3c foul after you and freeze to the rail for sure

2b

2b-3a thin the 12 and hide the 10 again

2c

2c-3a try to hide the 10 again

2c-3b in the worst case, your oppenent decided to do an intentional foul

2d, popular choice

2d-3a: safety to 2d

2d-3b: send QB down table with 10 protected

let's say you are a little luckier, the 14 bank in previous shot was more powerful and knocked a ball to our side. And your opponent send the QB downtable. 9 ball turns into a dead straight shot and the 10 is still protected

2d-3c: intentional foul, leave QB and 9 straight with 10 protected

2e

2e-3a soft stun the 1 and hide QB by the side pocket

2f

2f-3a, move 3 towards the pocket and hide the QB

2g

If the 4 does drop, the QB is frozen to the bottom rail, and you have to shoot again, what would you do here?
2g-3a 4 ball dropped and you have to shoot again

2g-3b possible counter safe

2h
If the shot was executed somehow well, the roles of attacking and defensing would be reversed. You opponent would probably have to stick the QB by your pocket and play safety now since you pulled his teeth. For more details, please see below.

2i

2i-3a, kick the 2 rail and hide QB behind 4 or 5

As an intermediate player, I will go for 2h to reverse the situation (Take off your opponent's biggest threats and directly make them into yours). The 10 is off the rail far enough so the risk of double kissing is smaller. Hitting the 12 on the face and stop would be nice. If not, it is still not to bad, please see page 2,3,4.

Shot 2H Possible Outcome

Please note don't take this as the answer or anything like that. There is no right or wrong in any shots, these are just simulations for everyone to share ideas.

As usual, any suggestions and comments are welcome.

Have a great weekend everybody! :)

Cheers
Wei
