DVDs with historic pool photos and interviews for sale

For the last several years, Mike Haines and I have offered for sale a DVD with all of the images from our Smugmug galleries. We do this once a year around the time of the Derby City Classic. Our Smugmug galleries are at this link: http://billporter.smugmug.com/

The DVD also has the historic audio interviews we did back in 1980 at the Rocky Mountain 9-Ball Open. These interviews run to over 5 hours of MP3 files and include cue makers Bill Stroud, Paul Heubler, and Bob Meucci. Players interviewed include "Machine Gun" Lou Butera, Dee Hulse & Al "The Plumber" Winchenbaugh, Gloria Walker, "Cowboy" Jimmy Moore, Ronnie Allen, Warren "Monk" Costanzo, Mike Sigel, Paul Gerni, Richie Ambrose, Vickie Frechen, "The Rifleman" Buddy Hall, and Richie Florence. For more information on these interviews, check this Website: Haines/Porter Pool Interviews.

The DVD also contains 121 photos of the 2005 DCC and a screen saver of pool photographs. The DVD comes with instructions on how to access the images, interviews, and screen saver. Another Word file details how to use the filenames of the image files to determine the player(s) in the photo and the tournament at which the photo was taken.

These are the same images that, when we first put them together, were given to Dan Janes of Joss Cues. Dan, very graciously, made up cues for both Mike and me to say "thank you." The photos on the DVD have been used by Steve Booth on his one-pocket Website and by R. A. Dyer on his site. A couple have been published in Pool & Billiards Magazine. Fred "The Beard" Bentivegna used over 20 of our images in his second book. Five of our images were used in the production of the US Bar Pool Championship television program that aired on HD Net. Several of our shots of Steve Mizerak were used by Jorge Torres in his tribute to Steve on ProPoolVideo.com ("The Master"). Inside Pool devotes a gallery on their Website to our "Classic Pool and Billiard Photos" (Inside POOL Magazine Billiard Gallery). We think this collection is "the gold standard" of tournament pool photos from the 1980s and a terrific value at $50 (less than $.10 an image).

Here is the BIG NEWS! If you are one of the 15 buyers of the DVD, you will be entered in a raffle with the winner to receive a free dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Louisville. You'll be sharing the evening at Ruth's Chris with famed pool photographer Mike Haines, renowned pool writer George Fels, and two of the most interesting posters ever on AZ Billiards - Jay Helfert and Fatboy! If you won't be in Louisville for the DCC, I will send you your personalized DVD via Priority Mail for $55. If you win the raffle but will not be able to make the dinner on Wednesday evening, I am sure you can sell your winning number right here on AZ.

The DVDs will be on sale from now until then end of November. The first 15 AZ members who request a DVD will be eligible for the free dinner raffle. If less than 10 DVDs are sold by December 1st, there will be no raffle.

As of 11:45 AM, November 16, FOURTEEN of the fifteen have been spoken for. The list of names will not be finalized until all payments are received.

Bill, I would like one of these CDs. How can I buy it?

As of now, I won't be going to DCC but I would gladly pay the $55 to have it shipped. Do you accept paypal?

Please let me know. I will also PM you.

Thanks, Dave, I have recorded your order.

Only 6 left! I know people were skeptical when we said we were only going to sell 15 personalized DVDs combined with a chance to win a free dinner with George Fels, Jay Helfert, and Fatboy. But when the 15 are gone, they are gone. Unless someone who ordered one fails to pay within a day or two, there will be no more offered this year.
