I have a nice hardback copy of the classic pool book titled, "Billiards -Hustlers & Heroes, Legends & Lies and The Search for Higher Truth on the Green Felt". This is a first edition copy from 1979.

The dust jacket is a little beat up with some scotch tape repair, but the book itself is in very nice, clean, unmarked condition. It does have some smell from being in a smokers home, or many different pool halls, but otherwise it's fine.

I see on Amazon they have only 5 copies going for from $87.80 to $172.50.

I am open to offers and questions starting now until this coming Friday at Midnight, Pacific Time. At that time I will decide whether I have a good enough offer to sell it here, but I figured I'd give you guys first dibs on it.

I have PayPal, or a money order would be fine too.

This is an excellent book. Quite alot on the history of the game and as you can see many old photos. If you get a higher bid show the pic of the pile of ivory balls, its one of my favorites.

First, let me say that I am not a SHILL!:) I will get nothing from the sale of this book, but I can't resist commenting on it. It is one of my favorite pool books and a very good read, especially for you older pool players (I'm 66). A few years back, Billy Stroud told me it was his all-time favorite book on pool. If you collect pool/billiard books, this is one of those "must have" items.
 
I must say that I wasn't as interested until the pictures of some of the pages were posted....that got me intrigued about the book!

Hey, this book is not only for old farts!;) I am 28 and this is my favorite pool book. I borrowed it to a friend and it was in his car when it got water damage-ruined!:mad:

Yeah, that's kind of the idea too. I like to share something this nice with all the players/fans out there, especially when it's such a rare and unique piece.

Amazon Update

I just went back to Amazon to check on how the 5 copies of this book were doing, and now there are only 4. The prices of the four they have up right now are: $87.80, $100.00, $165.99, and $172.50, plus $3.99 each for shipping charges. I wonder if it was one of you guys/gals from here who bought the 5th copy they had just a couple days ago.

One More Day Left

Just wanted to remind everyone that I'll be closing all offers/bids for this book tomorrow(Friday) night at MIDNIGHT.

Also, I just checked back at Amazon and there are only 3 of these books left for sale there now, out of the 5 that were available when I first started this thread a few days ago. They have one in GOOD condition for $87.80, one in VERY GOOD condition for $165.99, and another one in VERY GOOD condition for $172.50.

So this may be one of the last chances you may have to find a copy of this book around.

I just purchased this book from Albris in very good condition Book & Dust Jacket with brodart cover for $100. Guys you better grab them.not many left in this price range.:)
