This Si and Jones match is terribly amazing. Si is just shooting at everything top speed.

question for the group, does this tourney remain for you as the premier event in all of cue sports?

it has for me however I think the pending MR Worlds in Saudi may soon take this top spot in my mind

I don't think the pool championships are going to be anywhere close as far as the length of matches. Not as good a test.

It may depend on personal preference. I enjoy 9-ball, but much prefer to watch snooker. There's just a lot more depth and drama to the game. Even today when watching the Si/Jones match, both guys were playing poorly, but I was still drawn to the screen. If I saw pros that kept missing shots in a 9-ball match, I'd turn it off and watch something else.

It'll be interesting to see how they spread out that $1MM prize pool for the Worlds (if they haven't said already).

the snooker world championship still has higher payouts, with 500k for the winner. but i think 9-ball will no doubt raise its attraction and viewership. the IPT back in the day had snooker players and other cueists coming over.. money talks

I used to enjoy the long snooker matches, not so much nowadays and also not so sure that these marathon multi day matches are even necessary

the international flavour of pool today is awesome
I enjoy watching snooker for the different aspects of the game whether it's a big break, safety battle or a guy has a lead and enough left for the other guy to run out.

Through a chromecast link to my television I am able to watch one match, wilson vs O'Connor on the tv and the other, Bingham vs Lisowski on the phone. Cool an unexpected luxury. 😉
Great entertainment!

Tables are tougher this year is the statistical indication based on centuries are down . The commentary is so good.

the problem for me is that the world championship is so different from every other event. you can be a top 16 player (like zhang anda) and win majors but come to the crucible and get beat by a long format specialist. obviously some players in the top 40 range are good marathon players (not to mention the old craftsmen, who are also favored by long distance matches). also the crammy arena is different from the rest of the season.

It's a tough game to perform at your best when playing any of the majors and the Crucible can bring out the cracks in someone's game. Milkins was the prime example on how easy it is to fall apart at the seams when missing alot of shots.
