What's the best option for my second cue, I've been using a player's cue, this one: http://www.ozonebilliards.com/plcueg26.html
but I've outgrown it and it doesn't offer me what I need. I have a budget around $200, what's my best option.

Also, could I just get a good predator shaft and put it on the butt of the player's cue? Would hat be an improvement?

Edit: sorry probably wrong forum, mods can move it

For a custom cue, close to your budget, try PMing Greg Sirca or Bill the Cat. Bignik has a nice Ned Morris SP for $225, and Lee Peppers (LP Cues) always has custom sneakies, etc in your price range...try a custom, you won't regret it.

Here are some threads of those guys cues:

If it were me and had 200 to spend I would find a Lucasi with a radial pin. They hit very well for the money. I wish I would have never gotten rid of the one I had. Haunts me to this day.

Good luck in your search.

Predator

Im not sure Id put a predator on a players. That was my first cue as well and that was also my budget for my second cue. I had a few people warn me about a players not being well built enough and putting $200 into a cheap chue would be a bad investment. I found a used predator for $200 and that was the best money I ever spent. Do yourself a favor and figure out whether a z or a 314 is better for you and either get a sneaky 280-300 depending on whether you want a stainless joint, or keep an eye peeled for a used one.

Joss or a Lucasi would be my next two choices. You can find those new for $200 fairly easily. They would be well built and balanced enough to add a predator shaft OR ob for that matter in the future. Just make sure you don't get a Z style without trying it first. The tip and taper aren't for everyone.

Contact Lee at LPcustomcues.com or pm him LPCUSTOMCUES. His conversions are the best hitting cue for the value. Also either your love him or hate him but you can't beatem for a Dale Perry. eBay 150 all day long. Makes a great back up cue.
