They are left to right:
  1. Carmeli
  2. Schmelke full single bacote piece butt used for breaking
  3. Jim Pierce
Love playing with them all...

I’m on the schedule for a local custom maker, I have a piece of bacote reserved I’m so excited.

Schmelke has some really nice Bacote wood — my Schmelke Bacote SP has similar really nice wood !

One more here with a Bacote butt from Schmelke. The only thing I kept from that cue was the Bacote and it was skinnier than I liked. Ah well, nice for the price!

Oh yeah, nice sticks and cue porn always welcome!

I've had bocote before and felt it played soft. Is that an inherent trait or is that unfounded?

Shaft or butt? (Is there even such a thing as bacote shaft or is it used only for butts?)

My cue maker said bacote is relatively heavy so I assumed it is fairly hard.

Not a fan of bacote on purely cosmetic basis but the ones i've hit have all been really nice players.

I consider bacote to have medium hardness. Some consider it very hard. I put the cue together with a G-10 pin and Ivorine 4 joint. That should make a cue hit a little softer than a stainless joint so that has to be considered too. My tip wouldn't rate harder than medium or soft either so all in all my personal cue is set up to hit pretty soft even with the bocate butt.

I believe I could turn a piece of bacote and combine it with everything else to make a real pingy cue, just not what I prefer.
