Thanks for the link, haven't seen that shot before. That's a ridiculous draw shot!

The 5 in the corner looked like it didn't go by much either. Impressive out, right up until he scratched on the 8. D'oh!

Thank you for posting this. I was looking for this clip in response to another thread talking about draw shots. This is probably one of the best in game draw shots I have seen. Great stuff!

So we know corey likes to try fun stuff.
And when it works it's amazing. And he's skillful enough that it works a lot.
But obviously this shot didn't have to come up smelling like roses.

What do you guys think is the smart, safe play here, if you really
are determined to win that rack? I can't imagine it's "jack up and draw".

What would you do?
I thought maybe railfirst, try to the CB to pass under the 9... and if you manage
to do all that and not scratch, you have the 3-4 combo. Not a great solution.
My other thought was crossing it into the corner, 1p-style, with the speed to get safe if you miss.

I would personally play the shot the same way Corey did and almost undoubtedly get the same result. That result being loss of game.

Cross bank the two lightly with lots of right spin, leaving the two on the middle diamond of the head rail, bring the cueball 3 rails to the bottom rail hopefully leaving the 8,9 and 5 between the cb and the 2.

I've not watched the video, but judging by the diagram I'd not consider the pot. I'd play safe and would concentrate on getting the CB tucked behind the 9. 2 into the rail then short rail then back down toward centre table.

that was my plan as well, this is such a useful safe to have in your toolbox
and it was years before I really learned about it.
I might have figured it out faster if I played more 1p.

Without hesitation, this is the shot I am comfortable with and would also shoot.

Distance and/or blockers are a man's best friend when you can't draw a rail bound CB 8 feet.

That's a brilliant shot! Especially under the pressure of the Mosconi Cup.

I'm not quite as amazed as I might be, however, because Larry Nevel lives close by and I get to see him play a lot. I have actually seen him draw off the rail like that up and down the table. Freaky talented. Check youtube. I'm sure someone has posted some of his stroke shots.

I think you bank the 2 to the end rail, back to other end of table, between 8 and lower r) pocket...cb to far l) end rail of picture.

Or you could shoot the 2 with enough draw to play a bank on the 3? I think the safe is easier than the shot + draw+ bank.

Just an FYI Corey saw this thread and posted on Facebook that it was awesome but probably the dumbest shot of his career.
