I played a SL4 (I'm a SL6) in 9 ball, won 45 to 12 (she needed 35). I then played 8 ball against a SL7, I'm a SL4. Prior to the match, I noticed him playing another guy and was running 6-7 balls then a miss. So when I was matched against him, I knew it would be a tough match. Basically, there were 2-3 innings per game. Into the match he asked me if I've played before (I could tell he was a bit pissed off). I told him never in leagues and 1 tournament 35 years ago. He said I shouldn't be playing at my skill level and it was basically unfair. Well he had me 2-0, I came back and won 1, he won one, I another and then he loss by pocketing the 8 ball. So I won the match (he needed 5, I needed 3).
After the match he came over to tell me and my team Captain and said that he was going to write me up because it would be unfair for me to play against a SL5. My team Captain played me against him so my SL would be set appropriately. I know I'm better than a SL4, but until I'm proven, according to the rules, that's where I'm at. I'll probably be moved up since the past 2 times I've played a SL7 in 8 ball, I've beat them with my handicap. In passing he said "I can't wait to play you when your SL is where is should be", I said I welcome that
BTW, the adrenaline was flowing, sweating hands and such. I've gotten great information from AZB on nerves during game play. I'll probably use a glove, my hands were too sweaty for a closed grip
