How much room do you need for a 9ft table?

Basically a cue is 58 inches, that is about 5 feet. You need that 5 feet on every side of the pool table to be able to stroke a ball on the rail. So add 10 feet to the length and 10 feet to the width, that is the dimensions your room needs to be to fit the pool table, and allow people to shoot on it.

Your table is 5x10, you need a 15x20 room at the least, your table is a 6x12 snooker table, You need 16x22 as a minimum, and so on.

This is a bad measurement. If you only add 10 feet, then you have no room to stroke the ball if it is frozen to the rail. Like a few others have said, if you want to play and be totally comfortable without any problem, you really need about 15x20 for a 9 foot table.

My room is 17x20 and if you are frozen to the end rail trying to take a long backstroke it can get tight (there is only 70 inches from the rail on either side). I would hate to have anything smaller because my 20ft is close to a problem.
