Fed up with Matchroom's poor camera work. Constant switching between cameras in clutch moments just means that the viewers are gonna be confused and miss out on a lot of key stuff.

Prime example of this being when Jayson Shaw fluked the 9 ball for 9-8.

Yes and failing to switch to the top view when the player is blocking the view of the table for a critical roll.

Just another chapter in pool's greatest rivalry since Sigel and Varner. Congratulations to Fedor. We should all thank our lucky stars that we get to watch these two stars, who are bringing pool to an unprecedented level, shine.

The shot Gorst played on the one ball at double hill is one of the better clutch shots imaginable. Few pros would have made the shape onto the two ball, let alone at double hill in a final.

that shot was brilliant, match winner obviously

expect Fedor to get better closing out some of these tourneys, I can see a dominant run from him any time the likes of which we have not seen in a while

his skill level is insane and a notch above everyone else including Filler

That was the best final anyone could have asked for. Hill-hill. Tense exchanges. Two best players in the world. Fedor needing to get some hardware on the WNT scene. Filler showing the best example of sportsmanship from the hug at hill-hill to his genuine happiness at his competitor’s achievement. No sulking. Just an epic showdown giving fans an absolute box office showing.

Well said, Matt, but it's more than good sportsmanship. Although they are rivals, Josh and Fedor have limitless respect for each other in the arena of battle. They know that they will be rivals for many years to come and they both embrace the challenge.

At the Bigfoot 10-ball in January, the match went the other way. It was Gorst who reached the hill first, only to lose double hill to Filler. Gorst was very gracious in defeat. At the World Pool Masters, it was Filler's turn to be gracious in defeat, and just as you said, he was.

They both hate to lose but will give an opponent a pat on the back when it has been earned. Pool is in good hands with Matchroom producing all these wonderful events and guys like Josh and Fedor in the limelight.

Credit to Fedor for turning it around.

Filler will be kicking himself for missing a couple of easy pots.

Anyone else find it refreshing to have such an impartial crowd? They were cheering just as much for Gorst as they were for Filler.

Yeah, you often get this when a city that has never had a pro event before gets one. We saw this at the 2023 Hanoi Open, in which the fans cheered for anybody and everybody.

Gorst was great the whole four days. But he still makes a few head scratchers now and then. He shot too hard and misfired on a 3 to 4 combo down the rail up 10-8 to give Filler an opening. Filler went up 12-10 just like that.

The shot to get on the 2 at hill-hill, as sjm mentioned, was one of the finest positional shots I’ve ever seen. The speed he had to hit it at, the angle, the need for just a touch of spin. All under tremendous pressure. It was as close to perfect as you can get. Filler knew it was over after that shot.

Emily talks about pool school for the players. They need to send their camera crews and stats people to school at Accu Stats.

One thing I would like to share: Most of the pros spent a lot of time with the crowd. You could always have a little chat with them and get an autograph. Max Lechner (what a nice guy) was almost the whole friday there and had a smile for everyone who came by.

Disagree with that. MR is personality driven. That shot of Shaw with the fierce face, yell and fist is what Emily wants.
The soap opera is part and parcel of their service, and also how they envisage gaining a greater viewership. Might taste sour to some die hard billiards/sports fans. Thankfully the level of play is still top notch, otherwise it would be worth truly bitching about the 'buddies' club.

If they really want viewership they need to improve camera work and more importantly figure out post production as well. As per their standard M.O. Matchroom put up video of the final on their YouTube channel last night, a lousy chopped up highlight reel. It seems Emily can’t quite grasp that people want to see the whole match from the lag until the final ball sunk.
