Mike Shamos has just put a catalog of his collection online at

It is about 23,000 items. Amazing. Here is a matchbook from Welker Cochran's room in San Francisco. (I think it later moved to 1024 Market, but I may be confused.)

The co-director of the place, Vernon "Tex" Zimmerman, made my first custom cue about 1967.

What an amazing site! Kudos for Mike for the major investment this would have required in bringing these materials online in a such a professional manner.

What a fantastic resource for researchers. Looking over the terms of use, I'm pleased to see that Shamos is permitting the use of public domain items in his archives without any licensing fees for non-commercial use.
