Shafts - is laminated better?

The only benefit I see is that a cue maker can more easily make shafts that feel, look and play very similar to each other.

This allows for more production line work and less picking and choosing wood, taking slow cuts, hanging and drying shafts, etc required for (good) solid maple shafts.

I play with a 40 year old maple shaft. Still hits better than anything else I've tried, and I've tried a lot.

Maple for me as well. I started with maple shafts then switched to Predator and Tiger shafts. I went back to maple shafts a few years back and couldn't be happier. I prefer the hit and feel of maples shafts. Plus, I can REALLY experience the craftsmanship of custom cuemakers.
