I second the Rat Cues suggestion. I picked one up at SBE this year and absolutely love it. They play very well and when you factor in the price, its hard to beat!

If you are looking for a nice hitting prodution cue I would check out a Schon, I dont have one yet, but I have tried several, all have hit very nice. They have a very distinct and solid feel. I hate my McDermott with the G core, I have tried the I core shaft and was not very happy with that one either, McDermott is local to me so I have been there many times. A Schon is in the very near future for me, I will be visiting them and finding out if I will be buying a production cue or a custom, purely based on visual looks though.

For that price range, hard to beat a Joss. If you can find a way to spend more, I second, third and fourth a Durbin and also put in a plug for Blackcreek. Mike and Travis make amazing cues, both from a playability and cosmetic point of view, for the money.
