Valley ball return problems.

The local Legion has 4 8ft Valley tables, one has been having problems with balls sticking in the ball return somewhere. What's the general cause for this? Any way of fixing it without tearing the table apart?

Likely chalk in there. You can sometimes fish it out through the door on the side. Have someone with long skinny arms reach into the area below the head spot.

Thanks . I Think we had up to 4 balls stuck up in the table at one point. Had to keep putting a ball down the pockets till it dislodged the other ones.

We were at a bar a few years that had just gotten new Valleys. Some young kid picks one up by one end, about a foot off the floor, and drops it back down....right in front of the owner.

She wasn't happy.

Take the service door out at the head of the table, then reach in and take the wing nuts off the inner clean out door, remove it. Then you can look all the way up the middle of the table to see what the problem might be. While you're at it, reach in and remove the chalk cubes that collet right there in front of the clean out door, should be visible, usually about 3 cubes in the center of the 90 degree turn to the cue ball separator. Next time the table gets the cloth replaced, tell the mechanic to clean and vacuum the table out!!

What King said.

Also, older Valley's used a foam type mat in the ball dump that would eventually get divots in it and keep some balls from dumping. The fix is to scrape out the old and glue down a denser rubber mat. Suppliers sell them.
