I think it's interesting and potentially revealing about pool, considering what makes the sport at the highest level, "great."
!
What is 'interesting and potentially revealing'?
That's an incomplete thought.
You piqued interest...out with it!?

Best match I ever saw was one that somehow Pat Fleming missed recording while on his dinner break:
1998 U.S. Open Hot Seat match between Buddy Hall and Tang Hoa. At 9-9 Tang failed to hit a rail, but the ref didn't call it, leaving Buddy a fraction of an inch from the rail, jacked up with no easy shot and no way to play safe.
Buddy studied it for a good 2 or 3 minutes, then calmly jacked up and made a great short rail bank into the far corner pocket. He then finished off the rack and broke and ran the next game to close out the set.
They met again in the finals, but after Tang jumped out to an early lead, Buddy took control and won by something like 13 to 5. ACCU-STATS got that one, but they missed the far better match that had preceded it. I'm glad I was there to see it in person.
Mine would also include the HK Challenge (Color of Money, Earl vs Efren race to 120, etc...)
There is a Nick Varner vs Mike Sigel match that I think was nicknamed "the corner ball match". Don't remember the exact AccuStats video it's in. Nick made some great shots after Mike went ahead by a bunch of games.
Medina basically running out the set on Incordona (I think he set the tournament run out record then).
For a "modern" classic, the first TAR SVB vs Duel 10 ball is great, commentary with the people talking about SVB in his early breaking through to next level days was neat to listen to.
If the Sigel-Varner match was the final of the U.S. Open, then it had the craziest finish I ever saw. You'd have to watch the hill-hill game to believe what happened.
Danny ran eight racks on Billy! Every time he broke the cue ball went straight up in the air about two feet after hitting the one ball. Then it came down and just squatted right there. Yep, I was backing him too!
His opponent was Kuo Po Cheng. Not related to Ko brothers.Almost forgot, the Wu match when he was 16, I think against Ko, in the World Championship finals. I remember Corey Deuel saying that it was the greatest thing in pool he has seen.
Many matches I like have been mentioned, so I'd just add that match when Efren ran a 9-pack against Bustamante in an European event.

Shannon v. Reyes @southern classic.
The first time Earl and SVB played race to 100 on 10 footer. The events leading up to Earl wearing earmuffs. The gear Earl caught the next day was unbelievable. He made that 10 footer look like a bar table.
